Hi,
I'm about to submit my family class application. I also got married in April 2009 and am in the process of changing my name. I'm currently waiting on my social security card to be updated, then I'm going to submit my passport for updating with my new name. Is it a good idea to wait and submit my PR application AFTER all of this has gone through? Or will they look at my marriage license, my documents with my maiden name, my documents with my married name, and my DH's name and put it all together? Also, for the forms, do I use my married name or my maiden name? So confused!
Thanks!!!

I don't know that I can give a definitive answer what CIC wants, someone on here may know better. But, what I did personally (I live in Canada) was change my name on all of my documents (driver's licence, health card, social security number, passport) and then when I filled out the forms put my married name. On one of the forms it does ask for previous last names (or something like that) so I put my maiden name there. When I had to submit proof of identity (photocopies of), although they said I only needed my birth certificate (with maiden name), I also provided my passport (with the married name) to hopefully avoid confusion because a lot of my other documents were still in my maiden name (letter from work, emails etc). So providing birth certificate (maiden name), passport (married name), and marriage certificate (maiden name) I think made it clear. But as I said, pretty well everything else I sent as proof (option c printout, copies of statements showing each other as beneficiaries etc..) was in my maiden name. I've just received the request for my husband's passport, so everything looked to have worked out ok.
