It's incredible how frustrating my experience with Canada is being so far. I will give you all the background seeking for help on knowing if I have a valid status or not.
On April 20th, I applied for a WP extension along with my wife's study permit extension, requesting 3 months extension so that we could apply for PGWP after she graduated (graduation date August 31st 2023, original status expiring date August 31st 2023).
We were waiting for these extensions patiently, but they were never processed. On the other hand, I was a benefited by IRCC's emergency measure automatically extending work permits expiring by August this year for a period of 18 months. I received my new work permit until March 2025 and I got my passport stamped with the new Visa for the same period of time.
The applications made on April were never processed. So 2 weeks ago we decided to go to a Canadian/US border to get my wife's PGWP. Everything went fine and she got a work permit for 3 years until October 2026.
Today October, 19th, my original WP extension application made on April 20th was REFUSED, stating that I didn't prove that my wife had a NOC 0, A or B (which even though I was clear in my letter of intention when I mentioned we were looking for a 3 month extension so that we could apply to PGWP with a valid status).
In the letter there is another piece of text saying that my Temporary Resident Status has been expired as of today and that I have to leave Canada immediately, and here is where I am a bit worried.
My logic says that I was already given a Work Permit valid until 2025 and that I already hold a valid visa until 2025 through a different process, made available after my original application and that the officer released these threatening letter not acknowledging my current status.
Can I get any help or reference to laws to bring peace to my mind from you all or do you really think I have lost my status although I didn't do any wrong? It will be highly appreciated.
