Background: We are Canadian Citizens here and my wife's direct sister from India is planning to visit us for tourism & just a family visit to see her sister for 2-3 weeks.
Questions:
1)My understanding is that my wife can still write an Invitation letter stating her sister wants to do family visit/tourism, stay with us for 2-3 weeks but my wife does not need to give her T4 or financial statement & it is only her sister needs to show some solid proof that she intends to go back showing her job, financial statement, etc. Is that correct?
2)We hear lot of rejections these days so how do we strengthen her visa position?

thanks in advance

Yes, your understanding is generally correct. If your wife's sister is applying for a regular visitor visa, the primary responsibility is on the applicant to show that she meets the requirements. Your wife can provide an invitation letter explaining the purpose of the visit, the relationship, where she will be staying, and the intended duration of the trip. If your wife is not financially supporting the visit, there is usually no requirement to include her T4 or bank statements, although some applicants still include proof of the host's status in Canada (such as a passport or citizenship certificate) and proof of address to support the invitation.

To strengthen the application, the biggest factor is demonstrating that your sister-in-law has strong ties to India and will leave Canada at the end of her visit. This can include stable employment with approved leave, family responsibilities, property or other assets, sufficient funds for the trip, and a clear travel itinerary. If she has previous international travel and has complied with visa conditions in other countries, that can also help. Make sure all documents are consistent and support the purpose of a short 2–3 week family visit.

While visitor visa refusals have increased in recent years, applications with a clear purpose of travel, strong home-country ties, and complete documentation continue to be approved. The key is making it easy for the visa officer to see that this is a genuine temporary visit.
