My wife is due February 2019, what happens if she gets her visa before she gives birth?

We are at "background check" now for about 2 months, painfully waiting for that passport request. What do we do if she gets her visa before the baby comes out?

Depends. Where is she? Will the child be a Canadian citizen?

She is in the phillipines. I, the sponsor, am a naturalized canadian citizen, so the baby have the right to be a citizen as well, right?
Yes. In that case, you just update IRCC with the baby's birth certificate. It doesn't affect the app.

if the baby comes out before she lands as PR in Canada....you need to update IRCC with the baby's birth certificate....update IMM5406 because PA must inform IRCC of any change in family composition before landing as PR....apply for the baby proof of Canadian citizenship.....apply for baby Canadian passport, so baby could travel with mother after the mother's PR visa is issued.

since your newborn is a citizen....PA only need to send updated IMM5406 if newborn before the PA land as PR and this update will not add any extra processing time and its just to inform IRCC before PA lands of the change in PA family composition......note: informing IRCC of newborn will not affect processing time as baby is a citizen........however, you need to apply now for the newborn proof of citizenship and later Canada passport

So IF her visa gets approved BEFORE she gives birth, i can still update our account on cic? Wouldn't the account be 'closed' if she gets the visa?

So just upload the updated form on our account. Then apply for the child's citizenship. Does applying for the proof of citizenship take time?
