Hi guys,

My wife got her ppr last month and is close to coming to Canada. But I have an issue my mother in law also would like to accompany her.I have sent a letter of invitation for her to come as well. But they spoke to someone who takes documents over to Ankara from Iran and the guy told my wife to give him a copy of her visa as well. But I don't fell comfortable at all in doing that.I know the odds are very slim in my mother in law getting her visa to accompany my wife for a visit.Do you guys know any cases that this has been oked?

Your mother-in-law needs her own visa, if she wants to accompany your wife. She has to apply for it and be eligible as a visitor on her merits. Your invitation letter will help, but it does not guarantee she will be allowed to accompany her. Furthermore, she has to prove she is is a bona fide visitor, if she gives the impression she is coming to reside in Canada because her daughter has now got a permanent resident visa, they will turn her down.

And it is never OK to give anyone a copy of someone else's visa. Don't do it.
