So basically were 6 months or so into my inland spousal or application and had to renew my passport restore status etc but now we want to apply for an open work permit. My question is while the open work permit is processing am i under implied status the same way as I would be if i had extended my temporary resident status or do i have to submit a temporary resident extension request as well in order to maintain legal status(implied ) while waiting fir the work permit

Some people do visitor extension as well, just in case the OWP was returned for any reason (wrong payment, filled in something wrong, IRCC error, etc) they wouldn't go out of status. But it's optional.
