Hi All,

I need some advice. I have got thru the first stage of my PR...i applied thru a famous lawyer...but he/she copied/pasted the communication he/she received from the Intake Office.

How do I validate that my application has been transferred to the Buffalo office and that the communication he/she sent me by copy/pasting from CIO was genuine?

I trust him/her. But just want to make sure there is no room for doubt. Please advise!

You can check your file status on cic.gc.ca. I believe if he is reputed, this should not a issue. No harm is cross checking.

You can check your representative status also on Canadian Government website his / her by name.

the OP stated that s/he applied via a LAWYER, lawyers are not listed on the CSIC, only consultants. You have to check the bar association in the province where the lawyer practices to determine if he/she is in good standing.

Yes, you can check the status online after receipt of AOR from CIO.

@PMM - You are right about that. I could see the name of my laywer in his state's BAR.
