Hi

I have read yoru blog with interest and would like to discuss my case with you and ask for your suggestions/advice.

I am currently working in UK on a visa dn have got a PR visa to land in Canada. I am planning to go and land in Canada and come back to UK to gain somemore experience which I have been told would help me get a better job when I finally move to Canada on a permanent basis.

I have put in my poe as Vancouver (as I have gto family friends over there and accomodation will not be a problem), but now I ma thinking of laning in toronto, living there for a week and than going finally to Vancouver for two more weeks before I come back to UK. I would liek my PR card to arrive at the Vancouver address.

My concerns are the following:

1) Would it imapct my case, if I come back to UK before my PR card arrives. I really have waited quite some years for this visa and dont want to loose it. My only reason to be in UK for some more while is that I ma working in a good company at a good positiona nd I would like to take this experience with me to Canada in order to gain a better position. (some pople tell me that now they want you to be in canada to receive the card or else they create problems and by they I mean the canadian immigration authorities, hence my concern)

2) Would it be a problem for me to provide a vancouver address to receive my PR if I land in toronto?

3) I am not going to carry a lot of cash, do I need to carry my bank statements from UK to prove I have anough funds?

If you require further information to evalute my case, I am happy to provide more information.

Would like your expert opinion on this. (For some strange reasons I cannot pm you).

Thanks

No, Just make sure at POE, you provide the mailing address of your family/friends in vancouver, once they recive it (around 10 weeks), they can male it to you to UK.
2) Would it be a problem for me to provide a vancouver address to receive my PR if I land in toronto?
No

Yes you have to

Thanks a lot for all the information here.
I am planning for a landing in few weeks.
1. any experience with KLM via NETHERLANDS as i have a transit there.
2.Is it allowed to carry some eatables or tins (ready food curry etc) in luggage, i am more worried because we are family of 6 with 2 small kids and arranging food from outside in cold weather and new place would be difficult for me in initial days.
3.will we need any special adapters for vaio laptops there?
4.how much fund is needed to show fr family of 6 at time of landing, secondly if there FIXED DEPOSIT or bank statement in back home country is it ok? as i will again go back once before finally settling so will bring funds in CAD along at that time.
5.forms given in flights ask how much u plan to stay what to write in that if i am coming fr short landing at the moment?
6.is it easy to get a hotel apartment and book it online.
7.should i take pics of gold biscuits of 10 tola also and attach in b4 to be followed later.
8.taking rent a car would be good for looking around Toronto city with kids or public transport would be cheaper?

Really sorry for so many questions but i know seniors here are really so helpful i have learnt a lot from this forum before landing.

Hi nall,

Thank you for appreciation.
1. There will be no impact on your case. Many immigrants are doing the same.
2. No problem. You can land in Toronto and give the residential address of Vancouver.
3. If it is same as required POF than no problem. If not than you need to carry statement.
4. After few more post you will be able to PM

Hope that helps,

Hi ummi,

1. I don’t have any experience (with KLM via NETHERLANDS)
2. No problem as long as it is propyl sealed in tin pack
3. No, you need only universal switch/plug, it will work
4. For 6 family members required POF is $26,419. As per CIC http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp
FIXED DEPOSIT back home will not work. You need POF at the time of landing.
5. Write the same time period how long you wish to stay? It will be at airport not in aeroplane/flights
6. Yes it is easy and OK to book online
7. Yes you need to take picture of Gold or jewellery, enter the weight + value in CAD on form B4
8. Public transport will be cheap. Other hand Rent a car will be more covenant to go around with your own time & freedom.

Hope that helps,

Thanks Dear for prompt reply.May Allah bless you for all your help.
i have required amount 27k $ at time of landing but i don't wish to bring cash or TT at this moment so is it possible i show original bank statement in my name but in indian currency or dirhams rather in Canadian dollars, I will transfer them later after opening account in Canada at time of final move.
Secondly is it possible to go to places of interest like Niagara falls and park/zoo etc in rent a car or they are very far away and tour bus etc would be a cheaper option.
Do you advise i apply for driving license (G2) now or it is better after i settle later next year.
Can you suggest any area for hotel apartment?(from where it is easy to move and look around the city)
Once again Jazakallah Brother.

If i want to land in February 2013, will it be a bad idea? So far i know February is the coldest month in Toronto. Then which time will be the best for a newcomer?

Please note that, first time i'll land alone. After 5 months in July 2013 i'll bring my family as our visa will expire in end of July 2013.

Please advice.

Hi,

1. You can bring POF as bank draft, in any currency equal to the required amount in CAD
Please read the last links on this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp
2. It is possible and best option to go in rental car.
3. You can apply for driving license in your first visit, it will count driving experience from the date of issue.

Hi Tareq,

It is not bad idea, of course February is extreme winter/ cold and snow fall month. Summer is best time to land. Easy to move around. If you have some experience in extreme winter weather to manage and someone can help you to look for job it will be OK to land earlier.

Regards,
