My friend sent back from US at the Port of Entry. Will it affect his FSWP?

Hello ..Experts please reply.

My friend recently was sent back to India at the US port of entry for being unable to overcome the suspicion of becoming an illegal migrant. He travelled on a mulitple entry b1/b2 visa. His visa was cancelled at the POE. He is a software engineer in Inda. The POE officers got suspicious whether he would manipulate the visa norms once he enters the country.
How would Canada immigration officers view this and how would this affect his immigration program?

Canada and USA are different countries with different rules, principles and practices towards immigrants and visitors to those countries. You need not expect an incident at US border repeated at Canadian Port of entry. It would not any way affect FSWP , but there are several other obstacles for achieving any one's goal to enter Canada. According to me those are easier than USA.

Yes ,agree that both are different countries with different practises. But ive heard that this incident might act as a big hurdle since he has been ten-fingerprinted and cos Canada and USA share the same database. His visa cancellation at the POE is clearly indicated in his passport too.He has just started the process for FSWP this year.
It is nice to be optimistic but please give a realisitic analysis to this issue.
Thanks.

It should not affect his chances to immigrate to Canada IF he is honest about the rejection in his application. There is a question on the application form asking whether you have ever been denied a visa to any country. He should answer "Yes" and explain or attach the letter the US officer gave him. It will only be a problem if he lies about it and gets caught.

Not a good idea. Part of the screening process is background checks(for every applicant) and fingerprinting(some applicants). It is safe to assume they run this information through US databases.

That means applying with a duplicate passport might only raise more doubts in the officers mind assuming they use the US database for screening! Whether he has genuinely lost his passport neednt be a sufficient reason for them to believe?

On the application form:

the answer to the question, "have you or any family member ever been denied a visa to Canada or any other country?" should be "YES" and details provided. Does not matter whether a passport has been lost or not. Period.

Anything else and that is misrepresentation and a 2 year ban from Canada. After that, there is still no guarantee of immigrating to Canada.

A word to the wise is sufficient!

Whatever passport he applies with, he must declare that he was refused entry into the US at port of entry on the application.

Was this his first visit to US?

I was refused entry to Belgium and sent back to England -- I wrote CIC a letter explaining it, they didn't care.

Why were you refused entry to Belgium?

For the same reason your friend was refused -- the border officers decided that I didn't qualify to enter the country.
