Just out of curiosity do you not check your online status? If it is the fault of CIC to send you a short notice and it is delivered by Canada Post late, then there's some negligence on your part too by not checking the online status periodically. Two losers (CIC and Canada Post) working together will only crush any hope left out from the result. But my understanding is that they update the online status promptly and there's a reason for it. Im not coming down on you but Im saying how easily this could have been avoided.

It can take several months or even more than a year for CIC to reschedule the test. Consider yourself lucky if you do not get an RQ that would lengthen the process a lot.
CIC has been very sensitive about people missing the test or oath dates lately. Someone from my local office missed the test for the same reason (did not receive the letter on time) and had to wait over a year for the next appointment.
