"Must Do" items for Temporary residents before moving out of Canada

Hi Friends,

I have been in Canada on WP as Temporary Resident for close to 2 years. Now I will be moving back to my native country.

I was looking for a checklist of "Must Do" items which needs to be taken care before moving our this country.
E.g close hydro, mobile connection, update address in Bank, etc.

- Cancel hydro
- Cancel
- Cancel or change insurance home and car
- Sell car
- buy travel insurance
- deal with credit cards
- figure out how to move money across
- netflix (wont work outside of canada

Thanks. Do we need to inform Driving License authorities, OHIP?

I have no reason to think that you need to for your license. You license will likely just expire. Couldn't hurt to let them know, but I do not expect they will do anything or really care.

For OHIP I expect you will need to let them know when you expect to depart. Though this is mosly in case you are concerned about retaining some form of cover.. Realise that you will not likely be able to enjoy cover under OHIP if you leave permanently or for short term even (without special arrangement). Probably wont be possible at all if you are on temporary permit. You will have to check with them about requirements.
