My husband and I form a musical duo. We've won some awards in the uk, and have some great press. We had a very successful Canadian tour in June and have many more dates planned. We have (distant) family in Canada and many great friends and we both feel it would be more beneficial to our career to be based in Canada... But we just don't know where to start.

We'd be very keen to teach students and encourage youngsters into the profession (as we currently do here in the uk) and have skills we would like to pass on as well as furthering our own career in Canada.

You would need to immigrate to Canada and become permanent residents.

Information about Canada's immigration programs can be found here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp

It sounds like you might qualify under the Self Employment program - however processing times are extremely long (several years). If possible, I would first check out the Express Entry program to see if you might qualify under that one (faster processing times).

We are planning to apply from the uk and would like to move within 3 or 4 years. Is that likely? Absolutely any advice appreciated.

It's honestly really hard to say. You'll have to look through the immigration programs to see if you meet the requirements to apply. Self Employment has specific application criteria and long processing times. So there are those who wait several years only to be refused. Express Entry is a points based system (no one with under 450 points has been selected so far) - where processing is must faster (can be as short as a few months) but the number of points you have is extremely important. The rules also change from year to year.

Your time frame is fine. Whether you actually qualify or will be selected is a different matter.

My friend and her ex immigrate to Canada from the uk. It took them about 3-4 years. After landing, they had PR card mailed to them.
I wasn't sure how her ex did the paperworks though.
How they immigrated is unfortunately pretty irrelevant since the rules have changed since them.

Note that there is no separate immigration process for individuals from the UK. They follow the same processes as everyone else.

Hello! My husband is a self employed musician for more than 10 years. He has got prizes and recorded some famous albuns in our home contry. Do you think that’s enough for the express entry NOC 5133? Or would they require a university degree?

Thanks a lot in advance.

You don't need a university degree - however without a university degree you may really struggle to get enough points to be selected through Express Entry. Have you calculated your CRS points under Express Entry? How many points did you get?
