Hello Seniors,

I came to canada on Visitor visa in July 2015 and applied for Inland application along with OWP application under spousal sponsorship. My visitor visa expired on Dec 2015 and I have two years open work permit now as I applied with my inland application. I wanted to travel to india for some family reasons and wanted to apply for multiple entry visa/ Temporary resident visa.

Can you please let me know what form or package I need to fill as when I try to fill the form online it makes me apply as a visitor but I already am a worker.

Please advise what I am doing wrong

I was in your situation before.

I had an open work permit and I wanted to travel the Philippines for family reasons too. But I was advised to stay inside Canada because it might be difficult to get " VISITOR VISA" from my home country. Because of the INLAND APPLICATION, I am not considered a "VISITOR" anymore. Do you get my point?

Here is a good example...

One of my friends who had an inland application had to go back to Philppines because her son died. She also has an open work permit. But when she tried to apply for the VISITOR VISA in the Philippines to go back to Canada, It was REFUSED! So her inland application was abandoned and they needed to start a new application OUTLAND.

So it is really up to you...

Look at the ruby_ruby's situation and you'll see why inland is generally a bad idea for most applicants. Eventually at some point, you or your wife would want to leave Canada for vacation or family emergency, and this can lead to a refusal if your wife is not allowed back into Canada. Also remember that inland interview refusals cannot be appealed.

Means that, if your inland application was denied, theres no appeal
On that. You have to start your application all over again, outland application!

Yes, but during that time, the processing was 1 month... so that doesn't help either. What if you need to go right away? right?

It's clearly said that OWP is not a reentry. Better think first even though your in that kind of situation, because your future depends on it.
You can try calling CIC first on what is the best thing to do on the situation, other avenues or some consideration on this compassionate case for faster process of visitor visa application inside canada before going home to PI. the chance of applying TRV inside canada is high especially your on work permit, have a job.

Processing time for visitors visa inside canada online is 13 days and for paper application is 12 days.

Exactly, OWP is not a guarantee for re-entry... so even applying for a TRV inside Canada is useless and also considering that there is an INLAND APPLICATION, I am not sure of the approval of the TRV. ... bottom line, and this is just my opinion, if it is not very urgent, just stay inside Canada and wait for the PR process to be done.
