Hey guys this question is for fellow Canadians who are married here in Korea. I want to move my children and wife to Canada to live with my parents while I stay here and work for a few more years. Does anyone know any information about this process? Can my parents in Canada sponsor my wife until she get her citizenship ? I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks everyone. I really want my kids and wife to move back to canada, However i would send my money back to Canada to support them as well. The reason I am asking this is because I have a good job here however Canada is a better place for my children. I really look forward to hearing your guys advice and information. p.s I am a non resident of Canada for tax purposes.

first, your wife wouldn't be applying for citizenship, she would be applying for Permanent residency. they are different, and citizenship can only be applied for if a person has been a pr for a certain amount of years.

if you are a canadian citizen by birth or naturalization, then your children would most likely also be canadian citizens which means they do not need to be sponsored for permanent residency to enter and live in canada. if they are canadian citizens, you would need to apply for their certicificate of citizenship so they can travel to and live in canada.

as for your wife, no your parents can't sponsor her. in order to obtain permanent residency she needs to be sponsored by you, her spouse, or qualify for another stream of immigration (ie: skilled worker or provencial nominee). If you sponsor her as your spouse, CIC will want to see proof you plan to move back to canada WITH her and settle there upon approval. CIC generally does not approve applications where a couple doesn't plan to settle in canada upon approval, or if the sponsor plans to stay out of canada long term.

if you want your wife to move to canada, then you should be willing to do so at the same time. until then, it's not recommended to start the PRapplication process. as for your kids, if they are canadian citizens, then they can live in canada at anytime, even staying with your parents if you and your wife plan to stay in korea.
