mother to come as a tourist or to visit family?

hi all,

my mother plans to visit me from India but her stay will be for 3 months.
its honestly to stay with me as she is alone in India but she has no plans to overstay and will be going back.
I am in the process to apply for her visa and somebody recommended that I mention the intent of visit as 'tourism' instead as a visit to meet family so that she has better chances of her visa request getting accepted.

considering that she is alone in India and that she is partially dependant on funds from me, stating that she is coming to visit Canada just to meet me might raise red flags.

please recommend what would be the best course of action?

She would state a 'Family Visit' and not 'Tourism'.

Applying as a tourist would put an additional financial burden on her ability to prove she is able to pay for every aspect of her visit.

As your mother, it would seem incorrect that she is applying as a tourist when she has family (i.e. you) to support her stay. Visa approvals are not granted on merely stating 'Tourism' or 'Family Visit'.

A 3-months' stay is not advisable. She would want to state a visit of 3-4 weeks max.

As she does not have family ties in India to return to, she must ensure that she has other exceptionally strong ties to India.... to offset the imbalance for the 'Family ties to Canada are stronger than those to the home country' reason.

BTW the fact that you are her son/daughter residing in Canada would immediately show up in her Family Information even if she states Tourism or a Family Visit
