My wife, who will be giving birth in July, would like to invite her mother from Russia to be a part of her first granddaughter's birth. We don't yet qualify for the super visa because Anna isn't yet a PR. Instead, we would like to simply apply for the traditional temporary resident visa. Do any of you guys have experience inviting a parent to Canada? We have a strong case proving that she will return to Russia (Employed professor in Russia, two visits and timely departures from the USA). Would you mention the birth in July in the letter of invitation? This will already show on Anna's file since we have given this as a reason for delaying the x-ray on her medical. Because baby is already a part of Anna's file, leaving this out as the reason fo her Mom's visit seems like a bad idea to me. However, I have read that mentioning it can be harmful since it shows that she has too strong ties to Canada to simply be a visitor.
Any opinions? Thanks.
