Donhollio: I'm sorry, I am trying to understand but I am confused by your post.

1) Your profile says you got AOR Jan 1st 2011 and application received Jan 25. It is usually the other way around.
2) You paid the residence fee (C$490) on June 28? Is it maybe July 28? Voluntarily or after being asked? Usually they ask for it just before visa is given but if processing started June 24 how can her visa be ready on June 28??
3) What 6 weeks are your referring to?

Also: Don't worry about the 15 months case because you don't know the details: maybe docs were missing, difficult background checks, etc.

Guys, I got a surprise e-mail this morning. My wife has got the PPR request. I hope she gets her passport back soon so that we can rejoin and rejoice... ;D At the same time, I hope the very best for all of you guys out there. I know it is agonizing but keep up the hope and positive energy going.... May you all be surprised pretty soon too! ;)

Sept 2012 Only 22 months, thanks for the quick work CIC :(
The January 1 is a mistake. To be honest I'm not sure what the AOR even is. I tried to fill it out in my profile but all the acronyms got me confused. CIC in Mississauga got our papers on the final few days in December 2010. The rest of the timelines are correct, I copied them from the CIC webpage that holds my information. Rechecking my residency fee I did pay it on June 28th 2011. A letter was sent to Alina, requesting her to forward the email to her sponsor (me) so I can pay the $490 CAD.
Medical results have been with Moscow for months, and I'm happy to say we had no missing information in our documents. I took extra weeks pouring over every detail to be sure. Alina is from Uzbekistan, so maybe that will have something to do with the delay.
The six weeks is the timeline from paying the landing fee to the present day.

Thanks for the reply ubernemo :)

Fazimy: congratulations!!! I am happy for both of you. I hope we will also have good news to report soon; this process is starting to get on my nerves quite a bit :-X

Donhollio: thanks for the details.

BTW here's a nice list (with explanations) of acronyms used in immigration discussions: http://immipedia.ca/Acronyms.
Also of interest: http://immigrationguides.com/content/view/203/110/ and http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/immigration-acronyms-t3007.0.html
We all were mystified by them at one point or another  but the consulate is kind enough to give us plenty of time to familiarize ourselves with them... ;D

Re: OUR VISA IS READY!!!!

We hardly could believe our eyes. At 15:00 they sent an email to my wife telling her that visa is ready (her passport was already there). We spent the next 2 hours booking flights, etc. She will be coming next Tuesday! :D

It is exactly 7 months to the day since docs were sent to Moscow, 260 days since the application was filed in Mississauga.

P.S. We were the 4th couple whose address disappeared from e-CAS less than 2 weeks ago. All 4 couples got their visa! There's definitively a link... Check your e-CAS page daily!

Thanks again ubernemo! While looking at those links I found a request form I can fill out and see whats happening with my file. CAIPS /FOSS they call it. Is it worth doing even for curiousity sake?

Absolutely! Only $5 and a few minutes to fill. I did it every month to see progress (not much at first). It takes about a month to receive reports so it's always a snapshot of your file 30 days ago or more but still worth it as consulate gives no feedback at all.

Re: Coming to Canada from Russia

A little off-topic :-[ but still useful information worth sharing I think:

Airplane tickets from Russia to Canada: I first tried skyscanner.net (http://ca.skyscanner.com/ from Canada) but the flights we wanted (TransAero/Lufthansa) were not available there. We finally found them at https://www.ebookers.com for a good price.

Don't forget to check if you need a transit visa http://www.immihelp.com/visas/nonustransit.html. Probably not but still worth checking...

Travelers insurance: http://www.visitorsinsurance.ca/ is a nice comparison site.

Detailed thread about landing: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t36735.0.html

Tons of other useful info can be found here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/a-master-thread-of-some-of-my-posts-here-t40175.0.html

True Ubernemo, our address has also disappeared from E-case and I found cheap tickets from Transaero website as low as 574 USD that is even less in Canadian dollar. Check that if you haven't booked yours. One question from you; How long will it take to get the visa if you send your passport via IOM. We sent it on the 25th of August.

You have to make arrangements with either Pony Express or IOM (MOM). Or go there...

Good news! My wife has arrived safely in Canada a few days ago, PR visa in hand. She went to pickup her visa in Moscow (her passport was already there as she sent it before to save time). Took only 10 minutes and because her visa was already on her passport she didn't have to come back later to pick it up later that day.

In Canada she went through passport control, customs, federal immigration (took 10 minutes) and then Quebec immigration (another 10 minutes). During weekdays there are more officers in the daytime so less waiting time. Everybody was very nice to her and she was out of there in about 30 minutes total.

LIFE IS GOOD FINALLY!!! :D

Best of luck to everyone!!
