Good Day!

I have sent my application alongside my husband's for Outland Family Sponsorship and currently my Permanent Residency Application is being processed in Ottawa. I am of British Citizen and of course, he is Canadian woo :)

Everything has been going rather speedily and until I received an email today requesting a Court record / Police report: Provide an original police report or court records for the Principal Applicant.

First of all, I thought sending the Police Certificate from ACRO Police (UK base) was sufficient? Getting a Police Report (if I understand the request correctly) takes 40 days here in the UK, and that does not include the time of sending a letter to the police office requesting such papers. I was given only 30 days, which includes today.

I am actually quite worried, not because I do have a caution and that is what will show, I have nothing to hide and I have been extremely thorough and truthful with explaining the whys in my application, it is just the time frame, and I don't want to hinder my chances any further. Hubby and I have been together for 9 years, will be married for 2 this year and we just want to settle in Canada, where he still is :'(

I am just asking for advice on the matter or if anyone knows a phone number I can reach them to? Best way to let them know that I am more than willing but it will take time.

Thanks for all your guidance.

Jessica

It sounds like you wer charged with something in the UK. If that's the case, it's normal for CIC to request the court records / police records and you'll need to supply them (I would provide both if applicable). There's no point calling them - it won't change anything. If it's going to take longer than 30 days, email your visa office and let them know.

If you inform your visa office now that you need more than 30 days and give them a good idea of when you can get it, they will wait. Just do it now, not later - if you email them on day 30 asking for more time, they might not give you an extension.

I wasn't charged at all, was a self defense issue with my ex-boyfriend, but that is not the point :) I know what has happened, I just wanted to know if it is possible to contact them and stuff.

Do I just email a reply from their email, because it seems quite automated? I will try that one, I have requested my -Subject Access- already, is the only thing I can request, as a Police Record is just not something they give here.

Thanks for your help.

I believe you need to send a case specific enquiry to your VO.
