Montreal ranks first worldwide as a destination for a foreign student wishing to pursue university studies, according to an analysis published by the division of information The Economist.
The analysis, conducted in collaboration with a major Chinese bank allows the creation of a guide for parents seeking to find the best place to improve the learning of their children. objective was to target the aid of several criteria, cities that offer the best potential returns in terms of studies, financial, cultural and social. conclusions of the study are the result of a series of interviews with experts and the index called " Sea Turtle Index. "

In addition to the quality of teaching, the criteria for ranking are, inter alia, social and cultural diversity, openness to immigration and the ease of obtaining a work visa, opening foreign investment, tuition, cost of living, crime rates, the potential performance of a real estate investment, job opportunities after graduation and the value of the currency.
Montreal ahead of cities such as London, Cambridge and Oxford.

Nearly a quarter of 38,000 students at McGill are international students and about 50% of them come from outside the United States. McGill University will host including 2,400 new international students in September (2013).
The study prepared by The Economist highlights that there has been a 50% increase in the number of American students for 10 years in Canadian universities.

Montreal is not the number one destination in the world right now for foreign students, but it should be according to the findings of the study.
What exercise demonstrates is that the return on investment is not limited to baggage school knowledge. Consider the cultural experience (restaurants, theaters, shows, etc.)., Social, professional (work) and practical (management of a property if the child is involved in the investment of parents).
