Hi
My mom has applied twice for an extension of her visa each given for 1 year. She has a multiple visa for 10 years. Her las extension expires in July 7th 2014. What to do?
1. Ask for another extension. But what are the probabilities to get it approved after two extensions have already being given?
2. Leave Canada and enter USA and then come back to get another 6 months. But how long should she be outside of Canada?

I appreciate anyone's advice please

Someone please can help?

Thanks

why 6 months? isnt it a supervisa?

Regular multiple visa is not the same as a super visa. Read the CIC website for more details.

I'm not sure if Option 2 is doable. You might want to check with the border officer you encountered - they might extend the date.

Hi Gigab,
Is your mum holding TRV to enter Canada? How did you manage to extend her stay twice and given 1 year stay with each extension?

Now I'm confused and frustrated with this issue. I want my mum to stay as long as possible before Im eligible to apply super visa.

Can you share your experience on how to do it?

Can you share the invitation letter sample? What reason you give to cic?
You can pm me if it's not convenient to write at here.

Did you fill in the representative form?

Are you show your own bank statement as proof of financial to support your mum?

Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,
Kidrobot

Just noticed that meak (another poster in this forum) had extended four times on her stay in Canada. So option 1 is doable.

Really? Can you provide the link? Cic grant for how many months per extension?

You will need to actually contact "meak" for details!

Thanks Steaky for letting me know that. And one more qs, if my mom decides to leave by July 7th, Is there a timeframe she should be out of Canada and then come back in order to get another 6 months? I'm just worried about the officer not letting her stay too long due to the fact that she's been in Canada for almost 2 years.

For Kidrobot: Every time she has applied for an extension immigration has always asked for medicals. And I guess since she has no medical issues at all, we've being lucky she has being approved twice now. I gotta be honest i feel kind of afraid to ask for a third extension. Not so sure about it. The documents we always present are her bank statements from Canada, her medicals and my reason for her stay is always I am an only child and she's being with my son ever since he was born. I really couldn't tell why she gets approved but thank God they always approved her extensions. God knows I need her, I guess.

Thanks for your help, I will definitely look into "meak" posts to see If I find answers.

Hi gigab,

I think there's no problem of your mum's extension because you already successfully twice before.

Are you straight away apply online or finish the online questions before apply?

Thanks.

Sincerely,
Kidrobot

Nope, that can't be done.

Lets say you get into Canada by January 1st and get 6 months.
On March 1st you go to the USA, and then on March 15th you get back.

Re-entering gives you an extension? You wish....

Your same entry allows you to come and go as many times as you like in that 6 month period, but no extension is given, your period still remains the same.

Don't try to out-smart Canada Immigration ;D

Hi Jalex23

I totally understand what you are saying. But say if her permit expires July 7th and she leaves Canada by that day. Can she go home or go to Florida, Just picking any place, say for a week and then come back to Canada she has a multiple entry visa, do you think they will give 6 months of stay again?

Thanks
