Modifying work experience post ITA

Hi everyone,

I have been working in Canada from January 1, 2024 to present. However, during 2024, I temporarily worked remotely from my home country for about two months (June 21, 2024 to August 23, 2024).

While creating my Express Entry profile under the Canadian Experience Class, I recorded my work experience as:

• Canadian work experience: January 2024 – June 2024
• Foreign work experience: July 2024 – August 2024
• Canadian work experience: September 2024 – Present

I have now received my ITA. Based on what I’ve read, it’s recommended to include only the work experience for which points are being claimed.
In my case, I am not claiming any points for the foreign work experience while I was in my home country. Given that, I’m unsure how to proceed:

• Should I remove that entry from the work experience section and instead include it only in personal history?
• Or should I keep it as is, include a Letter of Explanation, and clarify that I remained employed full-time with my Canadian employer during that period (using the same reference letter)?

My goal is to keep the application as clear and straightforward as possible for the IRCC officer and avoid any confusion.

What you did is fine especially because it represents job continuity but a period of time where you were working abroad. If you move the work period where you were abroad it may be missed that you continued working for the same employer. People put longer foreign work experiences or older work experience that they aren’t claiming points for in their personal history
