Oh my. now I understand why the embassy is asking us for the divorce documents from my husband's ex relationship. My husband had 2 girls with his girlfriend in his home country. They have not been together for 8 years. We filled everything out as ex-girlfriend. We had to have a notarized statement from her stating that it was ok to sponsor the girls at a later date. Well the notary stated ex-husband on the paperwork instead of ex-boyfriend.

My question is: Should we get an amendment from the lawyer and his ex again? Or should we just write a letter explaining it? We have a certificate of singlehood (proving he was never married in Nicaragua).

The certificate of singlehood (showing he was never married), as long as he never lived anywhere besides Nicaragua, should be good. Was that submitted originally?? If not, submit that. Obviously, if they were never married, he can't produce divorce documents.

We did not submit that originally. I am probably just worried about nothing. I just don't want anything to go wrong after all this work.
