I have no clue where my app is, I don't get it, I live in Montreal, qc, husband is in Dominican Republic,
App was sent Aug 31,
Received Sept 1
Sa oct 9
Schedule a request Oct 26/ sent
Med requested oct 28 /sent
Ecas in process since Dec 28, but no news about being transferred somewhere or processed in Mississauga
Hmmmm, so weird, I wonder why they would put it in process without requesting anything or notifying in any way,,, anybody seen this?
Even when I call the automated cic to check, it still says background hasn't started yet
Unfortunately I don't think anybody here can tell you for sure, but you may want to try ordering your GCMS notes. Any time the app is transferred is documented in the notes.

Your application probably had been transferred to your husband's local VO, recently there are quite some people never received their AOR2. For folks that their cases would be fully processed by CPC - Mississauga, the Ecas would never updated to show In Process. Based on what I read, on Ecas, cases were processed by CPC Mississauga, simply jumped from Application Received to Decision Made, and before decision made, the last message they will update is We have received your medical results.
Some of us lately have been getting a very brief in process (for example, mine switched Dec 20 and stayed that way till I got DM on Dec 29, and there's a few others too) so I'm not 100% sure if "in process" rules out Mississauga processing anymore. At least that's the way I'm gonna look at it moving forward lol

Hey do you (or does anyone) know if you're able to travel out of the country & back after landing and while waiting for PR card?

I'm currently waiting for my COPR (sent it out on Jan 3rd) and planning to move up at the beginning of March. I have a few things already planned back home in the states (birthday & baby shower) in March and April that I'd want to travel back for, so hoping that's not an issue

Thanks!
CoPR is fine for traveling by car over a land or sea border. I was told by the CIC agent that the stamp in my passport would suffice. it doesnt.. and I got my ass chewed out while crossing a land boarder by car.. I luckily had my CoPR in my bag cause, thank god, I'm a freak who over plans.

you can't fly with it, but it's a catch 22..
the airport wont let you on the plane if you tell them youre a PR yet don't have a PR card.. cause the airport gets fined for allowing people in who don't have legal status.
you do have legal status. so as long as the airport doesn't find out, you're good to go. but I've heard stories where people don't mention it and yet they find out somehow.. so it's your gamble.

Is there anyone here who is either planning to import their car from the US, or has recently done so?

My wife is eventually. Haven’t really looked into it though. I have heard it’s a pain and also hears it’s easy

We're planning on importing our car from the US but we haven't looked into the details yet, since we're still waiting for the PR application to finish processing...could still be a few months away. We're hoping to move by late spring, but it all depends on PR for my husband so that he can begin working right away. It's funny - here I am obsessing about our application status all this time when really I should be putting that energy into finding a job, apartment, paperwork for the car and our two pets and all the other work involved in moving, haha. It's a catch 22 though - it's like we can't officially plan until we know we're officially approved.

We are August, BGC started around December 22nd, not even a pre arrival email yet or anything
Did they request any additional documents from you? I’m so confused why it’s been over a month for me now that gckey shows bgc in progress with no progress. Gah!

No, as of yet they haven't requested anything else from us. BGC can take months, nothing to panic about yet

Take it from me as someone who got approved sooner than anticipated... plan as much stuff in advance as possible! I've been extremely overwhelmed trying to plan everything related to my landing and wish I had taken time to prepare (I thought I would have more time!). The car importation process, in particular, seems very detailed and complicated and I had done no research whatsoever. It's just a lot to think about all at once

So the wife phoned CIC this morning just to see if it said anything different from the GCKey and it says the processing time is 14 months
We also called yesterday. And the recording does say 14 months, but it also says they are only handling phone calls from Inland, so 14 months is for Inland.

I don't think Mississauga has fully adapted to handling Outland Applications. I did a download and recrunching of the Google Sheet and you can clearly see that they just started handling outland applications in January (1 outland applicant), then it grows month by month until Aug/Sept/Oct, which see a lot more Mississauga VOs for Outland (avg 15 or so), then the numbers shrink again. Very few Outland Mississauga in Nov & Dec 2017. I know the numbers aren't statistically significant on their own but the trends are there.

I don't know if they're slowing the number of applicants they are processing Outland in Mississauga because it turned out to be a huge mess for them. The way I see it, that would be good news because one day they'll say "right, let's just clear out all those Outlands in our box" and we'll all get processed and move on. The down side is it may take awhile :)

There's very few for November and December because those applicants are just starting to (or have not yet received their) AOR. You don't find out your app is being processed at Mississauga until you receive AOR2, which according to current timelines, would be about 3 months after the app is received. So I would say the data is only accurate through September or October.

Ah! That totally makes sense! Thanks!
