My ex-girlfriend lives in Calgary...And my intensions is to land in Calgary...Annnnnnndddddd my wife knows she lives in calgary too.....
For me landing n settling in winters can be hot like summers, if my ex-girlfriend come's to see us on airport...

My ex-girlfriend was our family friend before my marriage.....

HAHAH... uff sounds like the bermuda triangle there.. hehe..
i agree with cyma.. but i also understand the other point of kids and wife coming later.. especially to save initial costs, it might help some people. eg. those getting hotel rooms can get single rooms instead of two double rooms.. and all that. Its harder emotionally to leave alone.. i must admit. Those going ahead of their families are pretty brave.
I am also hoping to get the visa by Dec so will take my son out of school. Hoping to land in last week of jan. My uncle advised me to bring the credit card along that we are using in Pakistan.. said it will help to start a credit history in Canada. Also valid driver's licence showing the first date of issue.. so you can see maximum number of years as a driver. He also said there are websites where you can prepare for the driving test.

I have thrre kids
11, 7, 1.5 years old, son/daughter/son

today i submitted there school leaving

i am planning to go in december, though jobs will be less but to know where abouts , where to live etc etc, then my wife and kids will join me in end of feb beginning of march. my visa will expire on 16 march

i am not intending to take risk of making my family suffer in winter and we are struglling even for house , area, job, medical, and all related issues come across while being in new country

I agree with you and also have the same plan for me as well. I have kids with ages 8, 6 and 8 months. Taking Wife and children along with you on the first time is a serious issue because of 2 major reasons as far as my circumstances are concerned. First, In JAN winters will at its peak and temprature can be as low as -30 C. Second, in my case, I dont have any close relative in Canada. So what i have to arrange, i have to arrange my self. For me this will be another challage along with searching for an appropriate JOB. Furthermore, this can save some money but in our cases, this initial challange should be properly taken on. Most of my friends who just got their VISA and landed in Canada are advising to bring wife and children on the very first arrival. May ALLAH help us all in acheiving our goals. Aameen

Very Positive and I must say Eastern approach :)
But you know now a days wives especially the educated/professional wives don't want to leave their husbands alone for all these Initial suffering .They are ready to give full Moral support to their husbands
I think Mrs Umar and UBLerum and Mrs Arsalan will agree with this point :)

So not sure which way is more effective going with family or going alone

Yes u r so right...!!

I have relatives in Toronto and my hubby has relatives in Calgary...We want to settle in calgary as compared to Toronto which is very packed and expensive.Calgary has more job opportunities , plus taxes are less and it also has a better commuting system..! We plan to go by end of march as weather will be slightly less cold than in jan n feb..we just send our PPR 1 docs yesterday as we were waiting for my son's PP..so I think by end of Nov we shall be getting our Visas..Inshallah!

dear all i have been to Canada many times before the submission of application. I have still not made up my mind that i am going to become permanent resident. i still consider it as another trip, which is wrong. Actually its becoming difficult to really believe that we have to settle there leaving our parents, family and friends.
Now i have seen people worried about finding jobs and getting financially established in new country. Guys as a sincere forum members i have an advise for u all. If u do not find jobs which is difficult as they do not consider our experience and qualification there is no need to get frustrated. why not to become entrepreneur. why not to take a deep plunge and start our own business. let me share my story with u. i was a financial manager. Resigned from the organization and started my own business. guys believe me worked hard and started exporting fruits&vegetables in Saudi Arabia and Canada. Toronto is a huge market and has alot of demand for Pakistani mangoes, citrus, guava and rice as well. invested only few bugs and got orders in Canada for mangoes, citrus and rice. I would have never planned to migrate on the basis of my job and qualification because they do not consider our credentials. Now inshalla going to register my company in Canada as the market has been established.
secondly HADITH by Rasool PAk(SAW),"jiss mulk(country) may Adal or Insaaf khutam hoo jaiy wahan say hijrat ker lanee chiyay". hijrat may bohat barkat hey. Now u all know the condition of adal o insaaf in our country. Politics, Rishwat, the squabble over money, power, ideology and sectarian issues. so u all have at least peace of mind for ur family in Canada. Trust Allah he surely will pave the way for ur success inshalla.
so guys had alot to write but nasir jamshed out hoo giaya hey. ha ha ha . wish u all the best :).
