Waiting
Anyone know how long it takes for background check, security check, and eligibility to be approved? No movement on any of this in over a year. I talked to someone I know personally who said their background took 3 months in Mexico. I'm wondering if I should just resend the background check form as a nudge to get things moving.

I emailed MP Jenny Kwan and she personally emailed me back. I appreciated her detailed response, but honestly, it didn't offer any hope. It was pretty much a confirmation of everything I've learnt the last 9 years going through this immigration process.. I'm feeling so jealous of all you guys getting updates. I'm sincerely happy for you, but also depressed seeing you guys get approval and no movement for my husband. I hope no one takes this the wrong way. We all know how hard it's been, especially those of us waiting almost 2 years or more... Anyway, just venting my frustrations to those who understand. Not many people in my life grasp the difficulty we go through

Thank you! I was curious because the VAC in Santo Domingo it’s closed and so is the one in Ecuador, did they give you an address for you to send the passport or did you have to go in to the office?
Yes, they provided the address for the Canadian embassy in Mexico. That's why we told them we would pay for shipping. To have to wait for the Quito and Mexico City VAC to open....who knows how long we would have had to wait. It seems at least 3 of us got the passport requests after sending in a web form saying we are willing to pay for shipping.

I am tempted to write to them one last time now. Write to them last week. If specifying that we are willing to pay for the shipping could make a difference I would have done it a long time ago. I use the VO email adress since a long time ago instead of the web form. I guess it’s the same people who respond? When they will send you back the passport it will be at your address in Canada? If yes do you think there is a possibility to send it back to a UPS or DHL office? Thank you

I sent using web form. I find I only get a response with this instead of email direct. And yes you are able to have it returned to DHL or UPS and have your spouse pick it up there. I sent to my home address in Canada. It was only $55 CAD

I'm not sure if you're asking how....they send you the request. But it seems only people who are notifying them via web form are getting the passport requests. That request tells you what you need to send and the address to send it to. For us we sent with DHL. It took two days to arrive. To make it easy I used UPS to have their passports sent to me in Canada.
