Hi nartcr - quick question: After the PGR (PCC) is sent to the VO, will they continue to process the application as soon as is received "if eligibility is done" so criminality check can begin here in Mexico or is CIC going to wait the days given on the request to comply to actually start criminality check? I'm trying to compare Old VS. New process... Thanks.

Eligibility will be ongoing and is done by officer 1/officer 2, security by officer3/officer 4 etc. it is incorrect to think the file will be assessed by a single person. They are typically independent functions. Your criminality and security will be started after you send your documents..But there will be lead officer who would approve your case after all checks are done in Mexico as well as in Mississauga. I have seen the lead officer typically doing eligibility checks as well.

Yes, I'm completely aware & understand all you've mentioned...I think I need to rephrase the question: If you are given 30 or 60 days to comply with the PGR request and all is finished & received by the VO way before the 30 or 60 days, will the criminality check begin as soon as the doc is received or will they wait they actual 30 or 60 days to begin the check? sorry for the confusion....

30 day/60 day deadline + 7 day mailing is your BFD - Bring Forward Date. This means, that if they request your documents through mail and expect you to send your documents with in 30 days, the file goes to lead officer as a reminder on 37th day. Typically this serves as reminder for your lead officer so that they dont forget about your file.

If something like reports, documents etc. [eg. background/security checks] comes to the Embassy in between the file get assessed... So I wouldnt worry about it. Just relax. :)

This forum is good place to learn many things. BF'D is often very important data many applicants look into, in GCMS notes. This gives applicants an approximate date, and officer is expected to work on his file on BF'D. And presumably, pass the updates to applicants ( in the form of PCC, addntl documents, status change etc ).

For ex: For File Splitting for Applicants Who Require a Hearing, you can see how BF'D is arrived at the operational manual for CIC..

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2013/ob529.asp

Cases falling under this exception will have to be BF'd for 67 days (60 calendar days for compliance, plus 7 days for mailing), or until documentation is returned, whichever comes first, before proceeding with splitting the file.

There was some documentation regarding this in forum, which is currently not active thread - most of the details applies even now:

Should be BF'D under comments ( if present ) or due date.
