Have your case number ready so they find your application.

Hi all!

I wanted to have some insight regarding Mexico's mail...

We sent the RCMP fingerprints document by registered mail from Montreal to the embassy in Mexico. Post Canada mentions an average of 3 to 7 business days for delivery...it has been a bit more than 3 weeks now and the tracking information mentions that it is '' in transit'' somewhere is Mexico...No more information available since a while.

We also sent the document electronically via the case specific entry, but I doubt that it will speed up the process. :( Do they consider fingerprints background check sent via the case specific entry?

Any thoughts and/or experience will be appreciated!

Thanks a lot!

they do it automatically, if you order your notes you will see if they extended it or not . there is no other ways of knowing unless they ask for re-medical which I doubt it at this time .
Okay thank you so much. Is there a point on ordering notes?

I would start by calling Canada Post, or visiting a post office in person with the tracking number to find out more details as to what "in transit" means. Usually, when you track a package online, you can see the history of the packages checkpoints (e.g. when it left the facility in canada, when it arrived to the sorting station in Mexico etc.) In other words, there is a lot more information available than "in transit".

Hi, thanks for your answer.

I did all what you mentioned. Our document has arrived in Mexico, last checkpoint. Since sept. 17 it is the same info, after that, no more details.

I called Post Canada and the clerk told me they cannot do anything (open investigation) before 6 weeks of delay.

Just hope its not lost. :S

According to the PGR website, it will take 10 days but I've heard that it could be in less time...

Hi!

I know that the waiting is frustrating. That said, I think the processing timeline of every application depends on how straightforward or not a case might be, if documents are required on the way, etc. I'm not sure Mexico VO is slower than others.

For example, our case is very straightforward and the application was received on May 4th 2016 and around August 30th both of Eligibility and Background were In Process, which I guess is fast.

Now we are still waiting because a document they requested is stuck somewhere in the mail in Mexico...oh well.

Eventually the waiting is gonna come to an end...:)

You are right, patient is the key for this long process...
You are so lucky because Chile has visa exception, so thats why you are application is moving so fast.
I think MCVO is taking time because they are working in the same batch with January 2016, so when one of us has PPR the rest will have soon too.
Oh God, what happend with the mail, hope you can fix it soon...

Hi CanaHn!

Yes I guess the process was kind of fast because Chile is a visa-exempt country. Maybe things will move faster when Mexico becomes visa-exempt in a couple of weeks.

About the mail, well, can't do much. We have a tracking number, but the last info we know is that it is in Mexico since Sept 17, but has not been delivered yet.

Is Mexico known to have a really slow delivery mail?

Best advice I can give everyone on this forum: "Always use Fedex, UPS, DHL, etc. to send your documents to Mexico City........Registered mail is just not going to cut it......Mexico moves at a very different pace than other countries..

Yeah, learning it the hard way...Thought that just a tracking number would be ok. Did not know about the
mail in Mexico being so slow.

We will use one of these providers for anything we might have to send from now on.
