Hey, long time!!!

Just a quick update. My wife landed on Thursday Feb 11th and yesterday we got her SIN and Alberta Health.

Exciting times. 8)

Really happy with CIC overall, everything was simple straight forward and much quicker than expected!!!

BTW I noticed that on her CoPR it was stated that her medicals were good for 18 months, not 12 (nonetheless CIC finished the process in 10 months).

CANzanillo, can you please update the spreadsheet? Thanks!

DONE!

Congrats Jalex23!! You must be ecstatic to have your wife in Canada! Glad the process went quickly for you.

I wholeheartedly agree! It is good for applicants to have reasonable expectation of application processing time otherwise you enter into desperation because once submitted you are largely blind to the processing procedure. If you expect it to take 18 months and it only takes 10 months then life is good!!

Felicidades!

Just a quick post to say that we enjoyed un TREMENDO, DIVERTIDO EVENTO last night in Calgary. 7 couples attended as well as our house host. These included couples whose spouse is a recent PR in Canada, like my wife, to those who have been here 3 years already, as well as a young couple who are looking to enter into the process of PR. New friendships made, delicious latin food and drink enjoyed and lots of great conversation! Many commented on how nice it was to communicate with others in Spanish. They felt like they were among family! A super get together all around! Already planning our next one in March! So if you are in Calgary & area, Alberta for that matter and would like to attend please PM me or post here and I will add you to our contact list for future event updates!

;) ;D 8) :P

Agreed.

Most of my coworkers have at least waited 18 months, so she is thankful everything went so smoothly.

Good luck to everyone, I'll let you guys know when the PR card arrives!

I posted both here twice and Mexi-can spouses Facebook page about the event. Sorry you didn't see it and make it. Hopefully the next one! :)

Pretty sure I answered you, but I'll check. I know for sure I sent you a text message!

Just checked. I can't see that I replied to the PM but for sure I sent you a text on Dec 22. it's sitting on my phone...

I have a question that I hope some one can help with. In the January 2016 Outland thread, some people are saying that their application that was sent in early January was returned for various reasons. I asked questions there too but thinking maybe someone here has experience already.

Being the sponsor, who is living in Mexico at the moment, I put my Mexican address. If they by chance return the application, will they send it by regular mail? Mail here takes months to arrive, if it ever does! :o

Question: Do they send an email or anything saying it was sent back? If they do it send it back without anything, it would add months of not having an idea what is going one or even knowing there is a problem.

I am really hoping it is all good so I won't have to worry but with my luck, who knows, so it would be nice to have an idea of what happens if they send the application back internationally.

As always, MANY THANKS

Hello everyone i have a question to ask, and i hope anyone can give me an answer, my husband and i want to bring my mother in law to Toronto for a visit this summer but we do not no if she still requires a visa to travel, she has never left Mexico before so this would be her first trip... can anyone give us a little help

thank you

hmmm tough questions! There are not many here that have experience with returned applications. In the roughly 2 years I've been on here I don't recall reading about a returned application.

If you filled in the correct (newest) forms you should be fine unless there was some significant exclusion in your application. I suggest you wait the 62 odd days for processing of SA before worrying about whether they are returning it to you. Here's the thing. I was also living in Mexico throughout our application process. Our sponsorship approval letter was MAILED to our address in Manzanillo. It arrived approx. 5 weeks after they actually made a decision. Beats me why they would send regular mail when we had specified our preferred method of contact as EMAIL. One would hope that if they were to return your application that they would courier it, but it is also possible that they would send it internally to the MCVO who might then mail it from there. Perhaps they would contact you to ask how you would like it returned. I wouldn't worry too much about it though.

Not sure that helps...

Speedy Processing!

Hello gricelanora!

She still requires a visa to travel to Canada to visit. As of today she would have to apply for a TRV through one of the VACs around Mexico. She would generally have to have strong ties BACK to Mexico i.e., good job, property, etc to be granted one.

Having said that as of March 15, 2016 the new eTA (electronic Travel Authorization) program comes into effect for Mexicans. This may not help your situation if she has no current valid US visitor visa or held a Canadian visitor visa within the last 10 years.

Finally, if, as promised, the Liberal government eliminates the visa requirement for Mexicans then she will be able to visit Canada freely, though I still personally believe there will be some limitations.

It might be best to get a strong application prepared and submitted asap through a VAC and then see what happens going forward with the other 2 possibilities.

Good luck! We too are hoping to have my brother-in-law and mother-in-law visit later this year.
