Many thanks!!!!!

my passport will expire on Feb 2016 and I am supposed to send my application for the PR visa next month, should I renew it before send my application? could someone help me?
Yes, it would be a very good idea to renew your passport before sending the PR application! CIC will not issue a visa unless you have a valid passport and it can take over a year to process applications. Plus it's not a huge hassle to get the passport renewed - last time I had to renew mine it only took me 3 hours to get my new passport!

Well, sorry if you felt that way, but it is the truth.

Important documents must never ever be sent through a service that you can't hold responsible for or won't give priority treatment to them. Your whole future depends on those documents arriving prompt and safe, so there is no room for doubt, courier + insurance + signature on arrival, anything less is gambling with something that you shouldn't be gambling with.
I agree Jack87. This is the first time I've ever had a problem with Canada Post. I'm used to sending mail to from Chile, not Mexico and I've never had an issue in the past.

Jalex23, I don't disagree with your point, just your choice of wording. Perhaps your comment could've been more constructive and less demeaning.

I just checked the notes I received last month. I also have an eligibility due date for August. It is exactly one year from the date we received SA, and the eligibility assessment says the last time it was updated was August of 2014.

Also, my medicals expired in April so this has nothing to do with medicals.

Btw Playa08, for our file, at the "notes" section at the bottom, the date of last activity on the file coincides with the most recent of the entries in the "notes" section and the comments written in that entry say: "Docs reviewd. File passed FOR". Near the top, under "Paper file", the location actually has an officer's name along with the officer's identifier. Right below that under a section called "Application Assignment", the fields state which officer got assigned our file and which officer assigned it to him/her. So it looks to me like the file got transferred from one officer to another.
The most recent update under notes was on March 6, 2015. We don't have any comments about Docs Reviewed all I can see under notes is our email correspondences. Under paper file ours was also transferred to another officer on March 3rd. Are your dates similar, hopefully once it's switched officers that's a good sign :)

The date of transfer to another officer was January 6th, 2015. The only notes I have are from mid-February and I'm waiting for notes I ordered in mid-March, so I don't know yet if there's been any movement in March. However, the last time I e-mailed the VO was late February and even then the file was still in the queue (almost 2 months after being transferred to another officer).

Do you email the VO to ask for an update? Do they give you a reply? The e-mail I sent asking for some sort of timeline they responded to by saying I am in queue and it will be processed in the order it was received. I was a bit annoyed that they didn't give anymore info other than repeating what I already know.

They don't wnat people sending them e-mails. A lot of people send them e-mails asking about every step of their application and can you imagine how many applications they have to look at. They deal with apps from a lot of countries. Unfortunately the time line is 18 months so if someone's application is within that timeline there's not much we can do but wait. It sucks I know.

I've emailed them once in late February to confirm that they obtained my PGR and to ask whether they needed anything else from me. They responded in 2 days - pretty quickly.

They didn't answer my first question at all. Instead, I got the exact same response you did - my file is in queue for review and they can't give me a timeline but that it will be processed in the order it was received. They also said nothing else was required from me.

All other times, our lawyer has emailed them and they have been prompt in responding.

They are always quick to respond to my emails, however I feel the volume of emails that must be sent to them constantly is probably so large that I really try not to. To me I'd rather they be working on my file or someone else's than answering emails. Each officer probably spends an hour everyday just on emails, if not more.

I would say if you got aor from Mexico then wait until 7 months from aor and if you've heard nothing, order GCMS notes. If GCMS notes show nothing happening, send an email. If GCMS notes show something like added to interview queue, or criminality/security started, then wait 2-3 more months, order more GCMS. If you send an email and they tell you you're in queue for review, wait 2-3 more months and order GCMS again.

When we start this process, we know that there is a possibility that we are waiting for 18 months. It sucks but it's better to be patient than pester the workers.

We are all going to Canada eventually! Just have to be patient. :)

Good Morning all!

Thanks for the replies playa08 & jack87. I'll throw that theory out the door lol. Hopefully now that new officers have been assigned to you both you will start to see action on your file again. It appears they reset you in the queue when it gets reassigned, but honestly who knows what goes on in the Visa offices.

I wonder if anyone has ordered GSMC notes AFTER they have their COPR. I think I will just for fun, to try to get some idea of the processing in the VO.

Do they routinely reassign files in the VO? Do they have officers that specialize in Criminality or Security reviews? Then transfer to eligibility officers? etc etc. Or does one officer normally process all aspects of scrutiny for a file? Did they reassign the file because the original officer could no longer work the file because they quit, got sick, took leave for some reason, promotion etc.

Sorry but I have nothing better to do than try to imagine the processes in the VO while we wait 18 months for our application to be approved... hopefully...

Wishing quick approvals for all!

Thanks for updating your info.

I really don't know. I'm imagining that if the file has to be reassigned for some reason it goes into the queue of the new officer's workload. At the back off the line? I would hope not, but who knows how they handle it. And we'll probably never know...
