Ok I will get the tracking and stuff from my hubby tomorrow and then call a customer service number and see if I can get some answers. Maybe it is the same thing and the guy is just confused. Wouldn't be the first time *censored word* like that happened in Costa rica. Thanks for your help. I'll let you know what they tell me.
ARGHH... but of course they don't know what they are doing!!!

And I'll be next in line for this gong show.

Agarand8 I sent you a PM.

A quick follow up to the topic of whether I need to re-import my Mexi-Can car back into Canada. I reached Alberta registries by phone just now and explained my situation. The officer told me that I indeed have to import the car back into Canada and get the appropriate inspections done, bring the import documents, inspections, proof of ownership, proof of insurance to a registry office to be able to register the car in Alberta.

I tried calling Transport Canada and am waiting for a call back from them to confirm the procedure at the border.

Have a great day everyone!
More follow up. After being told by Alberta Registries that I have to import my Can-Mex Car back into Canada and get inspections, etc I placed a call to Transport Canada today (1-800-333-0371). I explained my situation and was told that the RIV process does not apply and the car is considered "returning goods" and falls under CBSA (Canada Customs) jurisdiction, that I need to prove to Canada Customs at the border that I was the original (last) Canadian owner of the vehicle when it left Canada. I will be calling CBSA shortly for further clarification, but this looks a though it could become a bit of a CF with Alberta Registries looking for certain registration requirements, so we'll see what CBSA says. The vehicle does need to meet the import requirements of both government agencies for sure...

Good Morning!

Yesterday afternoon I called CBSA to ask about returning my Can-Mex car to Canada. I explained that Transport Canada told me the RIV process doesn't apply in this case, that the car is treated as "returning goods". CBSA confirmed this. They told me that they will give me a form at the border which they will stamp in various places, and that I have to include the vehicle on the B4 form under the "conveyance" section. So, assuming I can prove to CBSA that I was the last owner in Canada it should pretty much be a slam dunk to return the car to Canada. Though I am considering another call to Alberta Registries to clarify what their documentation requirements are, given that the car is not being import into Canada. Perhaps I won't require the Out-of Canada inspection at Canadian Tire (as it already meets Canadian safety standards) and just need an Out-of Province inspection because the car left the province, along with the customs document. Hopefully that will suffice!
Have a good day all!

Sounds like you're getting lots of clarity.

In case it helps, for the B4 you'll have your (stamped) copy of the B4 with the goods you declared coming back. You'll also have the customs receipt showing duty was paid (at 0% rate).

As comparison, in case it helps as reference during your conversations since it's probably the most common process for imported vehicles, for the RIV process (ie. for imported US vehicles) you get a Form indicating you imported the vehicle. A copy of that form gets sent to the RIV program. Once they have payment and the recall clearance the RIV submits the request for inspection to Canadian Tire. You take the form you receive from Canadian Tire once the vehicle passes inspection with you to register the car. Turn in your title, hand over the RIV import documents (which waives fees), and submit other documents they may generally require and register your vehicle in the province.

I have a question about how long after sending thr PGR should we expect to wait before hearing from CIC. We sent my wife's PGR on March 2. It was received at CIC Mexico on the 3rd. It's been 6 weeks now and we haven't heard anything. Does anyone have first hand knowledge on how long before we get some news eg. (PPR)? I sent an e-mail to the visa office in Mexico and they sent me the usual info. "Your PGR has been received and is in queue for processing....... Anyone have any idea? We're getting restless.

We sent my fingerprints so they could get my PGR (I live in Canada with my wife) in late October and according to my GCMS notes, they received my PGR results in early December. We still haven't heard anything from the visa office except "your file is in queue for review" when I sent an email to the VO in late February.

I have the nasty feeling that they're asking for the PGR early in the process and doing the criminal and security checks first and leaving the actual assessment of the relationship to the end instead of the other way around like they're supposed to. According to my GCMS notes from mid-February, my criminal record checks and security checks are in progress and the assessment for "eligibility" hasn't even started. The last activity was what looks to be a transfer of our file to another officer and that was in early January.... ???

I´m exactly on the same spot that you and your wife are......I sent PGR on March 18th and havent heard anything from CIC.
I don´t want to be pessimistic though but I haven´t seen any movement lately, so I´m thinking they are now taking longer that 7-8 months to process the applications, I see on the timeline from Mexico VO that some people who applied july-august 2014 still haven´t been approved (Im october applicant), so my guess is that the waiting will be extended to 10 months :( ....I was hoping to hear from them, either for PPR or to be called for interview maybe on May, but I honestly don´t know.

I think everyone was expecting PPR after sending in their PGR check but as has been commented it appears that this may now be their first step not the last. Cross your fingers but be prepared for a wait. Life!!!

Hi Fabibeach! quick question for you. Did you ever get any acknowledgement from the MCVO that they received your medicals, for example on ECAS or email?? Before or after AOR2 received? TIA

Hi Canzanillo!!! Yes, on Ecas i can see that they received my medicals....I did them in August then sent application until October, so basically since we received SA and client number and we were able to login in ECAS, it said medicals received. So it was before AOR2.

Tx for the quick response! Our ECAS doesn't show medicals received. They were done Dec 16, 2014. It only shows decision made for SA and "application received" for my wife's PR application. Should I be worried that they didn't receive the medicals or that they are floating around the MCVO? I really don't want to have to travel to MC to do them again if at all possible. I know there was a bit of confusion at the time of the medical. They asked her for a file # or some such thing. we gave the doctor my wife's UCI # (we had that from previous TV applications, but there was also another number on the copy we kept. I can't remember the name and don't have the receipt handy.

I would wait until they send you AOR2, hopefully they will tell you in that letter that they have already received your wife´s medicals (otherwise they would request her in that same letter to get them done). If they don´t mention anything about her medicals then I would just send them an email saying you just want to confirm her medicals were received mentioning the day and give the two numbers you got. Probably scan the confirmation we were supposed to keep. I have found the visa office to be very helpful and they respond to inquiries in a very fast way....I just don´t want to get them upset, but if you ask one simple thing, keeping it short and precise, I think they will respond to that, no problem.
I would wait until MCVO sends you AOR and keep checking Ecas.
