It takes about two months to finalize assuming that everything is in after they receive the PGR. It likely goes into another pile. Sounds like you're nearing the end.
I really hope so.Can't wait to finally be with my husband! We spent so much money for me flying back and forth already lol Sorry what does PGR mean?

I have a question, does anyone know that once an application is in process and they requested further information that as soon they get the information they will finish the case? Or does it go on a pile again?! In the email it said that they are a bout to finalize their decision but need more info.It sound like they will work on it as soon as they get it right?
::)
That's what i would like to know, too. I just sent in additional documents this week and in the email my husband received requesting the documents it states that they are in the process of finalizing...so I sure hope those documents don't just go on pile. I hope that they begin to work on the file as soon as they receive what they requested. And I may be wrong but i think PGR only applies to those applicants from Mexico. My husband and I are applying from Guatemala so i don't think that applies to our case.

so i called CIC today asking what to do with the strike that's going on in the canadian embassy because my request for the Informe/Constancia de Datos Registrales (the final document i need, i'm doing an inland application) is most likley stuck there (sent it back on may 21st).

the agent's response? "it's the responsibility of the applicant himself to exahust every possible avenue before they request an extension"

i wanted to yell back that it's them who are on strike, not me... but from the sound of it, it think it's time to start working on getting the Informe/Constancia myself. :(

Hey,
no news from the Mexico embassy this week for anyone?

That really annoying what CIC told you, since it is not our fault they are on strike, yet we get screwed because of it

i know. but i felt compelled to share it with everyone so that if any part of your process (like in my case getting the Informe/Constancia de Datos Registrales) can be done without requiring the embassy, people should maybe consider doing it since it appears as if the attitude of CIC is either to deny everything or blame the applicants.

i got the letter that you need to show the PGR people from the mexican consulate in vancouver requesting the Informe/Constancia (i with my passport and everything) and one of the secretaries there told me they have started adivising people that if their families are applying for visas to come visit them during the summer, they should probably apply at an embassy/consulate in the U.S. which hasn't yet been affected by the strike.

that kind of sent me into panic mode....

they can apply through the embassy in the usa?
how do they do that? Just mail it to the Usa rather than the embassy in Mexico?
That seems odd, I didn't even know you were able to do that. interesting

the first time I emailed him on a sunday, and than Monday I called and left a message, to confirm they had received my email, and they had info for me from CIC by Wednesday. the second time I emailed and didn't bother to call, and it was 4 days before I had heard anything, than we got PPR, so I just emailed again saying don't worry about it, we got ppr lol.

but it depends on your MP and how busy they are,

I live in a city of only 100,000 so my MP only covers half of the population, so he really isn't too busy. lol

but some MP's take longer to respond

yes, i know! if you google "Constancia de Antecedentes Registrales PGR", the first link that you get gives you the instructions on how to obtain them by yourself without having to go through the Canadian Embassy.

i was just very frustrated because i didnt find out about this strike until recently so i just sent out my documents (following THEIR OWN instructions as specified IN THEIR OWN letter) thinking everything was going to be ok because i was doing what they were telling me, but now it turns out that because of their strike, i should have taken it upon myself to get the Constancia and not expect the embassy to do it for me. i believe i am still within time (i have until july 6th) to get everything ready... but think about it. the mexican consulate gave me the letter i need to present to the PGR today. so i sent that (and a whole bunch of other documents) through fedex to my mom in mexico. she has to go to the PGR, do the process, wait 10 business days (as per the official PGR website), get the letter, fedex it back to me in vancouver, then i need to have it translated and only then can i submit it to my visa office.

if they would have at least told me to do this from the beginning i wouldn't be scrambling last minute to make sure i can make it before the deadline. my lawyer told me he'll definitely ask for an extension if i feel the documents are not gona be ready on time

yes, it's something like that. my father works in lima, peru (he is mexican) and is coming to visit me during the summer. he mentioned that the canadian embassy in peru is not part of the rotating strikes (at least not yet) so he got his temporary resident visa to come visit me in like 5 days? my mother, on the other hand (who lives in mexico) has been waiting for almost 3 weeks now because of the stoopid strike!

i guess that's what the lady in the consulate was referring to. bypassing the canadian embassy in mexico (or any other embassy/consulate/mission that is either on strike or about to go on strike) seems to be the way to go... :(
