I would love to know why things have to be so complicated! I would love to know how some get through a lot quicker and others take sooooo long! Granted I understand that some cases are more complex then others but for the ones that aren't it shouldn't take as long as it does. I would love to be a fly on the wall just to see what exactly goes on behind the walls of Immigation! lol. I wonder if my husbands application is collecting dust right now?? ::)
I totally agree with you, I always ask myself why they have to take so long to process applications! I just started with all this paper work and to be honest it feels like I been on it for years , it’s so hard and sad being away from my husband .Hopefully everyone’s applications is process fast and we can be soon reunited with our love ones !

Hello everyone.

My husband and I are about to apply Sponsorship outland and I have a few questions and I hope someone can help me.

Which documents and where in Mexico city can I make the translations to english?

How can I get my Constancia de Antecedentes Registrales? The site says that the embassy will give the instructions to obtain, but when is this? after I sent the rest of documents and formats?

Thanks very much!

Frida,

I felt the same as you and I have been living like this for 3.5 years. when we finally got married last year and started this process, we did some overkill on the information just so they wouldnt have any questions whatsoever...we presented everything prepaid (except I initially and accidentally underpaid by $490) and when they asked for info about our relationship...we sent every single ticket we spent on airlines...at least 35, and over 50 photos of us and our families together and we still waited what we felt was a long time. Now in hindsight, I see we were lucky and I will also tell you that they have hundreds and hundreds of cases to review so I think that doesnt help this process...be calm, if you filled out all the information correctly and you have proof...dont spend your days looking for updates because that doesnt help! I am the most impatient person I know and I drove myself emotionally on a roller coaster soo up and soo down...I now think I should have stayed away from the computer for my own sanity...everything will come...and in the end you will be happy...

good luck to you and your family Frida!

im not sure about translations

but as for the police check,
first your send your application to ontario, than the sponsor gets approved for step 1, than the file is transfered to mexico city. after they receive it, you will get an AOR (acknowledgement of receipt) and in that they will also send u a letter and insctructions about how to get your police certificate.
you cant get it before they send out the letter to you.

Hi I was wondering if someone could help me out. On October 25, 2012 my husband received the AOR from Mexico and in the AOR it states the following:
Applications for permanent residence in Canada in the category that you have applied require on
average 6 months to process at this office. However, in case of incompleteness or in complicated
cases, processing times may take longer. If you have not received any instructions from this office
after 6 months, you are requested to contact this office directly.

However, on the website it says that the average processing time at this office is 13 months. My question is: If i contact the office at the end of this month (since it will be 6 months on April 25 since he received this AOR) do you think they will respond to my email or do they go by the 13 months posted on the CIC website??

I would appreciate any comments. Thanks :)

I would contact them for sure. They are usually fairly good at answering. I believe it also reminds them of you and your file.

Not sure how it works for Nicaragua, but in El Salvador the issuing agency is the Viceministerio de Transporte (VMT) and the document to ask for is "Autentica de Licencia de Conducir" which basically indicates the validity of the driver's licence and the amount of driving experience of the bearer.

Try with the local Police if not sure where to go.

Good luck.
Thanks Farfelu. We went to the "Transito" today (National police) and got a "certificado de licencia" - it basically says when my husbands license was issued, when it expires etc and that he has never had any fines or tickets. It doesn't explicitly say that he has been driving for 3+ years... it seems that kind of document doesn't exist here. (sigh!) I'm hoping it is good enough! I may call drive test to be sure.

Also, FYI we got my husband's passport back today with the visa! His passport was in Mexico for 7 days total. We also got all our photos back which is nice.

Now... to book a plane ticket! Has anyone ever applied for a transit visa through the states? I'm wondering how difficult this would be...

there are a ton of young couples on here.

im just shy of 23 for example and we met and moved in 2 months after meeting when i was 19.

dont worry about the age thing, tons of young couples are approved! :)
