Hi!

I was wondering if anyone has experience with their spouse living in Canada before and being denied their refugee status and then applying for spousal ??

We were married 17 days before he went back to Mexico because his refugee status was denied when we were dating.

I am wondering if our process is going to take longer, if we will need ARC, or any other information.

We applied October 1 and the first part of the process was approved October 30. Now we are waiting for the second part to start processing.
We are in the same boat aswell.
We lived together in canada 2 years as common-law, and my spouse refugee was denied, so we went to mexico together and have been in process since january 19, 2012.
We are in the final stage waiting for the arc approval.
seems like its taking forever. but if u have questions feel free to send me a private message, I dont get on to check the forum much, but the private messages go directly to my email which I check everyday :)

Hmmm, haven't been to either. But I recommend doing a little research to see how busy they are. For example, I think Chicago is one of the busiest.

Hi all,

It's been three and a half months since our file was transferred and still no AOR from VO. My wife and I are currently in Mexico City for a short visit. Should we go to the embassy and provide the prepaid waybill for PGR in an attempt to get some sort of update/response from VO? We are really freaked out because now we cannot even check Ecas, it stopped working for us about a week ago :(

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I don't think I've heard of anyone dropping off a waybill in person but you can send it to them electronically.

Did you give them a valid email address to contact you with?

I know a couple people that have taken stuff to the embassy and handed it in person because they live close, theres no problem with dropping it off in person

I´m landing next friday. Have a connecting flight in the US with only 1:30 hours. I hope I´ll make it through immigration and customs in time form my final flight.
Ive had connections in houston a few times and they usually have an in transit line for people with connections, so if you get to go through that line that will help alot, because usually there is only a couple people in that line and it goes super fast
I had a 5 hour layover in houston and i got through everything so fast i had to still wait almost 4.5 hours before my next flight
you should be fine!

not sure about edmonton, i know calgary sometimes they are super fast and sometimes they are so incredibly slow its ridiculous.

As for the Mexican woman working there, I am assuming that they would need Mexican speaking and English speaking people working there...i am not sure how it all works!
There isn't any such thing as "Mexican-speaking." The language of Mexico is Spanish.

Just read this news article about another immigration fraud at work, it makes me so sad.

Incase anyone is interested:

http://www.bramptonguardian.com/news/article/1577414--marriage-to-cuban-leaves-woman-heartbroken
Wow, I didnt realize it made the papers. We have a mutual friend, he was just telling me what happened to her the other day, just freakin terrible ! Gives Cuban's a bad name sadly. But it truly isn't the case most of the time as the article would like to make you think. I have one friend that fell in love with an employee at the resort she stayed at, he immigrated 10 years ago now, they are still happily married and have 4 kids :) I also have a few other friends that are in long relationships with thier Cuban spouses and so far so good, there is a bad apple in every crowd !

Today we recieved the AOR and we were also advised a letter would be sent requesting PGR!

Does a certified translation need to be sent with the PGR?

I know we still have a long road ahead but this is exciting.

No you don't need to and a translation the pgr it's self is fine. I do recommend you send a ore paid way bill for the pgr request letter as I never received the one they sent by regular mail.

Thank you! Do you know if it has been taking you longer because you are both in Mexico? I am wondering if I can also expect it to be over a year to process. I was really hoping it wouldn't take too much longer than other spouse cases but I guess the previous refugee claim makes a bigger difference than I thought.

So no translation is needed? How come?

Also did you use DHL to send the waybill? Do you use an online account or just have the waybill sent by regular mail?
