Thats great! thanks for letting me know! Were you able to fax in the letter?
My husband spoke with his mom in Mexico City she found some papers but she doesnt understand them because they are in english/french she is going to send them to him tomorrow. So there is a chance the decision and reasons could be in there. If not I will fax off the letter next week.

not yet.
my husband printed the letter today and sign it, and he went to 2 internet cafes, but neither of them would fax anything to canada for him.

so tomorrow he will try going to fed ex or dhl or something and see if they can fax the paper to canada for him.
:)

o okay! that would be good.

lol we had the same problem when we were trying to find my husbands client id number. his mom was looking through his paperwork but she cant read english so it was a disaster. took us 3 days to finally get the client id!!>

Same here, although I disagree with the worrying part. I'm in a perpetual state of impatience and uncertainty. Going bald in my mid-twenties due to stress would NOT be good! :o

I just won Appeal to bring bf to Canada from Mexico. I hear it is now processed in Ottawa for straight forward cases. Anyone know timeline ?

Welcome to the forum :)

Congratulations on making it through what must have been a tough step. Indeed, as of Sept 2011 appeals were sent to CPP-O to initiate security checks. Depending on the admissibility risk, CPP-O either finishes the processing or sends the file to the visa office for assessment of complex admissibility risks and processing.

You can see the details in the Bulletin at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2011/ob305.asp.

There aren't many cases in Mexico post-appeal to provide insight into post-appeal timing if you get sent there ... you can read edgarsitow's posts and look at his timeline for one perspective.

If you are comfortable sharing a bit more about your case we can help you start thinking through next steps like police certificates from the PGR and SSP if you haven't gotten them yet.

Good luck!!!

Do any of you know if it is a challenge for individuals once they get their PR for Canada, to go to vacation in the US? Is there something that has to be done, and is it easy to obtain?

We were talking about this a couple of weeks ago. since so many of us met in the U.S., there are many of us wondering. To summarize: current U.S. law provides for harsh penalties for those who enter without inspection (by unlawful methods) and stay longer than one year. Commonly, a 10-year ban applies. The details, of course, would have to be discussed with a legal professional.
Now for anyone who isn't subject to this kind of situation, the rules are the usual: as a Mexican citizen, a visa is required, and those are not too hard to get anymore, as far as I know.

If you don't have any troubles with the US. Its fairly easy to get a visa.
A mexican national holding canadian PR still needs to apply for a us visitor visa. But its a lot easier with canadian PR to get it. :)

same with cubans LeisaP.....if my husband and I want to go to the states he will have to apply for a visa and apparently he is not allowed a multi-entry visa....which sucks since I love popping over to the states on a whim some days :(

Ya same! That's another reason we are looking forward to citizenship.
Because we both love to travel and with his canadian citizenship, that will be much easier!
