is the phone number a 1-800 number? I bought that calling card to call Canada last time we were in Mexico but didnt get a chance to speak with anyone because the calling card was just so expensive! So I went on skype and it let me call for free! If it doesn't I am pretty sure you can get a skype credit and call Canada with that - it will probably be your cheapest option. Next time we are in Mexico we are bringing down a magic jack for my SO's Parents - gives them a Canadian phone number and it is unlimited calls to Canada & America for only 30 dollars a year! I <3 Magic jack! lol.

no unfortunatly its a local vancouver number. of the agents office that we are dealing with.
i have skype!! i didnt even think of that! that is worth a try.!

yeah no kidding! i shoulda have brought a magic jack! they are sure magical! haha

anyways thanks for the skype advice!! were gunna try that see if it works. :)

@leisa you joined the thread while I was on my immigration vacation, I am curious, has the embassy asked for the police checks yet?

Hey MC so I tried to check ours to since my hubby also has a client # from previous visa's, so when you entered the number do you include the dash, I remember there being some talk about this awhile ago. Also do I enter my name or his name, I tried with his information but nothing worked, perhaps just not updated yet.

Dash or no dash works. Put his last name only (or two last names as in our case) and his bday and place of birth.

Not anymore AFAIK. I use my UCI (Client ID) without any dashes and my last names (Applicant) to log in, and it works just fine.

I think the answer is yes. I remember reading this in the guide many times and you wouldn't want to slow down your application for something you would have to do anyways, but maybe someone else with more experience like Ohcanadiana can jump in and answer that question.

Indeed - the answer is yes. If you've lived somewhere over 6 months after turning 18 (16 in some cases) you need a Police Certificate. The instructions are on CIC's website here.
