Tomorrow is 3 months since we handed in our application - I really hope we hear something this week! I need to send in my SO's visitor visa extension and really wanted to submit the approval with it :(
Ignoring last week since it was slow I'd say you're due for a Friday approval based on how many days they've been getting through in a week. You're so close!

I love animals and hate what happens in factory farming plus I watched Forks Over Knives which is very convincing. I was raised vegetarian so it's easier. I love Mac and cheese though.

Lol at your friend!
I've been vegan years. My health and my conscience has never been better :) I helped out at Oasis Sanctuary for almost 2 years and it really does change perspective. I also volunteer at the local Veg Association. There are so many great organizations out there doing really good work.

Forks Over Knives is great! Also terrific films that everyone should see:

The Witness: http://vimeo.com/5209895 (free on Vimeo and a really important film about simple compassionate choices we can make whether on a veggie path or not); and

the new Peaceable Kingdom (a personal fave, not graphic and told in simple personal storytelling fashion): http://www.tribeofheart.org/shop/main.htm I love Tribe of Heart and supporting their work is soooo worthwhile!

Best of luck in your vegan journey - the rewards are immeasurable for you, the animals and the planet. Win-Win-Win :D

Can anyone tell me the cheapest way to call canada from a mexico cell phone...

please and thanksss!! :D
Not sure about that. My hubby has used calling cards etc. when he's had to call and can't get to a computer, but no matter what he does the cell charges are so expensive!!! I seriously don't know how we would have managed without Skype ....

ah really. this sucks.

we are in a battle with employment standard board.
and they called telling us to call them back asap.
even we had all agreed email would be easier because we are in mexico!!.
none the less they didnt listen so we have to call them back.
but the phone call will probabaly be at least 10 minutes if they even answer on the first try! which is doubtful.

hmm. do you think it would be cheaper to use my canadian cell and number to call canada long distance. (i know it will still be expensive, but maybe a bit cheaper..)
than using a mexican cell or pay phone?

Calling from a Canadian cell may mean big time roaming charges depending on your service provider? May be better off to find some alternative in Mexico. Hopefully someone else here has some cheaper suggestions.

yeah. thats wat i was thinking.

and of course noone here owns a house phone.
the only time we are near a house phone is on the weekend. and employment board isnt open on weekends. just our luck!.

maybe we will try getting one of those cards for the payphone. thats seems like the cheapest option. if they dont answer im just gunna ask them to please emaillllll! its freee!

haha thanks anyways!
:)

Well at least if you use the payphone/card, you won't end up with a big surprise on your cell phone bill! :) And yeah, if they don't answer, tell them you tried calling but email is the only affordable and reasonable option!

Hello again guys! I have one more question... I lived in Germany for a year when I was 19, as au pair or nanny. Do I need to get a police certificate from them in addition to the one from Mexico and send it with my application forms??? This was 17 years ago but as per the guide, they say a police certificate is necessary from all the countries one has lived at since the age of 18... any thoughts or comments on this?

is the phone number a 1-800 number? I bought that calling card to call Canada last time we were in Mexico but didnt get a chance to speak with anyone because the calling card was just so expensive! So I went on skype and it let me call for free! If it doesn't I am pretty sure you can get a skype credit and call Canada with that - it will probably be your cheapest option. Next time we are in Mexico we are bringing down a magic jack for my SO's Parents - gives them a Canadian phone number and it is unlimited calls to Canada & America for only 30 dollars a year! I <3 Magic jack! lol.

I think the answer is yes. I remember reading this in the guide many times and you wouldn't want to slow down your application for something you would have to do anyways, but maybe someone else with more experience like Ohcanadiana can jump in and answer that question.
