oooh noooo ! Poor man, he will freeze to death lol !! We are in Vancouver, but will be relocating to the Okanagan once he returns, to a very very small community (500 people), so it will be a big adjustment from GDL for sure ! your hubby will at least have a ridiculous amounts of options for making some serious money up there, i know at least 20 people that work up there seasonally and make great money ! We are actually thinking of sending my fiance to the Yukon to work when he gets here, again major surpise there too ! he already has a very good job offer from a family friend but I am going to hold onto him for at least 6 months before i let him go again for work :)

Yeah he has NO idea.. Shhhh! lol Yeah we're hoping to work here and save as much as we can. In five years possibly go back to Mexico, but who knows. Yes, definitely hold on to him at least for a few months!! How often would be able to come back if he was working in the Yukon?

We'd like to open a business, if we could do well enough we would stay. But when I think about safety and education if we have kids.. I'm not sure. We'll see what it is like in 5 years. :)

haha, yep he really doesnt know what he is in for ! He would only work in the spring and summer months and would be able to come back for a visit every couple months, so it wouldnt be that bad, but he can make up to $50,000.00 just for 5 to 6 months out of the year, so it could be really good for us so we can save up and build a house and get settled.

ohh interesting conversation going on here! Let me join in! :D

My husband has never been to Canada and his friends and family (who know nothing about Canada) keep telling him things to make him terrified of going!

Like yesterday his uncle told him he would have to get used to having almost the whole day dark because the night is longer. ::) and then laughing at him that he will rpobably be on the first plane back when it get cold out.

Also for some reason they seem to think us Canadians are like ants or something where we do all of our groceries in the summer and then stay inside all winter (without working) hahahaha.

About the jobs here...I totally know how that is! My husband was looking for like 8 months until he found something and everywhere pays sooo little. Then if you have a degree then you are TOO qualified for some jobs and for the jobs that you need a degree for, they require years of experience! So frustrating!

Has your husband considered working in the casinos...I think there are some called Yak or whatever and they hire just about anybody, the pay isn´t that great like 5000 pesos per month but there are good tips!

We would love to have a vacation property there too, ultimately we would like to see a future where we can spend 3 months of the year in Mexico, but having a child myself, relocating there is not an option and I dont think he wants to live there permanantly anymore either, but his daughters will be staying in Mexico, so frequent trips will be neccisary !

oh nice that would be good!, well you never know things could change alot in the next five years, hopefully for the better. :)

Nessa- That is too funny. His family are actually very supportive and all want to vist, I've also tried to explain the daylight thing, he says he understands but I don't think he does.. he still doesn't understand how furnaces work.. or why Canadian cars have A/C.. oh boy

yes everyone suggests to just get a vacation property, not move there lol

Thats not a bad idea, I am not sure if he has thought about that, his parents spend most of thier time there so maybe he should get them to ask ! Its amazing how popular Casinos are there ! That is certainly more than he is making now, even without tips, so why the heck not !

I love the ant thing, lol, made me laugh ! Its funny how little people actually know about Canada and how much we know about other countries, I am always amazed !

hahhahaha that is so funny! that just made us laugh outloud!.
we have my finances step dad convinced that we eat seal meat for supper everyday. and hunt polar bears in the winter. and he absolutly believes it!. :P

yeah that is frustrating when they expect 10 years of experience!, its ridiculous. even for lower positions.

we have a Yak casino near by thats good to know. we are going to go tomorrow or monday and see about a job there. 5,000 plus tips is much better than 2,500 and no tips.
thanks for the insight! :)

haha the A/c comment is funny.

we are still trying to show his family how canada really is. and not igloos and stuff so weve showed them tons of pictures and videos. and his brother and mom would both love to go to Canada now.
even for Canada day his family surprised me with BBQ ribs, mashed potatoes, and beer. a truly canadian BBQ. it was nice to see them all interested in Canada and they all wore there Canadian tshirts we brought as gifts :)
