Okay friends, I need your feedback on the latest GCMS which just arrived this morning. All 43 pages! I don't know whether to be happy or depressed:

Assessments:
Eligibility: Passed
Security: Not Started (WTF???)
Criminality: Passed
Medical: In Progress

Paper File:
Office: PR-Background

Application Assignment:
Due Date: 2012/06/30 (good? bad? meaningless?)

Everything else in the notes looks about the same.

I'm unsure of the difference between Criminality and Security. Isn't a clean criminal record proof that you don't pose a security threat to other Canadians? Or what other criteria is there?

It looks good enough to me, I'd assume that since the case has been processing for so long, they gave themselves a due date of June 30 to wrap up the case, again this is only my assumption.

Criminality is the police clearances - i.e. FBI, PGR, etc. Meaning clean criminal record.

Security is the deeper background checks to ensure that the applicant poses no security threat to Canada. This involves CSIS and other "partners" who are responsible for ruling out similar name/DOB situations; organized crime; military service; travel history, etc. and who knows what else. Our case has been in queue for a long time due to being flagged for more in depth security screens (likely due to the tattoo thing combined with prior undocumented status in the U.S.) In any case, we know for certain that the CSIS checks have been done for some time and the MP was able to confirm our file was/is stuck awaiting completion of checks from another "partner". So that's why its freaking me out that Security now says "not started" - especially since we have been feeling so optimistic that the security checks are finally over !!! Now what ????

Well, at least we know that CIC has matched up the medical as that part now says "in progress."

Hello to everyone,

I am currently being sponsored by my wife, who is from Quebec. We got the yes from the Federal Government, then we were invited to apply to the MICC and they also gave us the yes already. We got the CSQ, which we sent to the Canadian Embassy in Mexico city. At this point we don't know what comes next. Is there an interview after this? Does anybody could share their experience to us - in terms of timing?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Security saying not started is a big wtf and has to be an error.

I think June 30 is very very good news!

So Nessa - does this mean that your whole process took 7 months in total ? a month and a half for the 1st step and 5 months for the second ? If this is the case that is very encouraging, seems the Mexico city VO Is moving fast ! ooooh I sure hope this is the case, we have been losing faith lately of ever seeing eachother again, but this makes me positive !

Yes 7 months in total! Almost 8 months.

Maybe this is the beginning of a batch of approvals!!! 8)
