lol! I like that one :) Since I know how long sponsorship aprroval is taking these days, stage 1 has been surprisingly easy for me.. I think I will start to become less patient when I know our time is almost there, and deft once it gets to Mexico City I will be on edge, lol. We have come up with a solution for the PGR and SSR though, we will be flying my SO's mom to Mexico city when the time comes to get it for us. It will much cheaper, plus she gets to see all her family - doesn't get any better than that! Now I am off to start collecting and researching about visitor visa extensions, fun :P

p.s something that always keeps me going is know that even though this process may take a long time, it is something that will help your family your whole life, and you honestly can't put a price on that (for me anyways) bring on the wait times, CIC 8)
I love your attitude mc1234!

Good news! I was just chiding myself for checking our application status again when the file was JUST transferred to Mexico less than 3 weeks ago but I see a change!

When I checked it on Friday with the file number AND UCI, it still had our old address from the PR we let expire in 2010. I just checked with the file number again (with my husband's info) and they updated the address to our new one! So I think that means Mexico has opened it! I am not sure though - anyone know?

We got an AOR from Mexico!! My husband just forwarded the email to me. Wow, we got sponsorship approval less than 3 weeks ago! I am sooooo excited!

Wahoo ! Congradulations canadiangirl !! Go get some ice cream and make it a triple scoop :)

LOL! I can't believe we heard from Mexico before getting the approval letter. Maybe it will come today! If so, I am definitely getting a triple scoop even though my pants are already tight from my trip to Canada! :P

Woo hoo!!! Congratulations!! Enjoy your ice cream! :D

I have a question. The AOR talks about mailing us instructions and a letter for a Mexican Police Certificate. However my husband has not been in Mexico since he was 9 or so. We didn't have to do it for the expired PR and I don't remember if we got an AOR last time and if we did, what it said. Is this just a standard form? If they mail it to us, how do I explain we cannot or do not have to do it?

I found our 2010 AOR in my husband's old email address. It kinda said the same thing but was much shorter with different formatting. It said we did not have to send in police certificates "at this time". And that "Once other requirements have been met, our office will contact you to provide you with specific instructions."

So it seems now they work on police certificates right away. I emailed them back to clarify if my husband needs to do this. I think it is just a standard letter but who knows what has changed.

congrats! Happy for you :)

I checked through old emails and we got the PPR 6 days after the AOR in 2010. That's gotta be a record! I highly doubt it will be repeated.

Wouldn't it be awesome if it did happen again, though?

Yes but I would feel guilty with everyone waiting so long. =) Maybe I just won't tell.

Your big advantage is that your other half doesn't need the Mexican police background checks. Mexico seems to look at files quickly in order to assess eligibility and either ask for additional info or kick out the police background check requests. I wish there was a way of requesting the letters proactively for other folks applying at any VO who have lived in Mexico.

That is true. The AOR says the letter was mailed to us for the police background checks but I am assuming it is just a form letter and it isn't required. We will see if they email me back. I am so ready to go! My daughter and I are so bored! Few toys, no car, too hot to go outside.
