Today I woke up happy. One and half week away from applying, one week until my SO gets his medical! Finally! I just want to send it in.. does it get less stressful once they have the papers?? Lol, I sure hope so.

yay! For me it was slightly less stressfull once all the papers were sent, because you don´t have to be running around and making sure you have everything. But now I feel like it´s all out of my control and i´m a lot more impatient hahah

It is less stressful. All you have to do soon is obsess over how long it is going to take to get approval and the PR. You'll be in good company. =)

I agree, we thought our package was off last week, but then Monday our lawyer told us they hadnt sent it yet because they were still waiting on translations, so I have gone from super happy that was sent back to impatient about it being sent ! Hopefully today it is off, fingers crossed, I just want this process to start, since we have a whole year ahead of us once its received !

Check this site:

I always use it to book my flights. Except prices are in USD. But it´s pretty cheap! Also usually they have stop over in the US.

Thank you Nessa ! I had always wondered about those guys, it just seemed like such a silly name I wasnt sure if it was for real ! I will def. check it out, and since our dollar is par right now, it wont be so bad that it is in USD :)

yes a friend recommended it to me. I thought it was kind of sketchy at first, but no...it is great! :)

Haha, I think I will be impatient too.. But at least we don't have to get any more Mexican paperwork!! That was the most stressful part of it all for us!

Happy to have such good company! Where will you all be settling once you get to Canada?

lol, Yes I am very happy we do not need to get anymore Mexican paperwork ! We should all have a sigh of relief over that !!!!

We will be in Vancouver, however will probably move up to the Okanagan (vernon area) when he finally arrives :)

Awesome. Right now we live just outside of Toronto, once my SO gets PR we hope to move to Vancouver Island :) Have you met a lot of Mexicans in Vancouver?

Actually that's a lie, we still need my SO birth certificate a current one of this year (for the PGR).. unfortunately all of his family is in Cancun and the birth certificate is in San Luis Potosi!! We have found a service that will get it for us, but it kinda sucks to pay 100 dollars when the birth certificate is 25 pesos!!! grrr. Ah well, what are you going to do! lol

Well at least its on its way and hopefully the last thing you need to get for awhile ! Geez a $100, thats a serious rip off for a 25 pesos document, I cant help but think this whole process is a bit of a cash grab, we will still need to pay for the airfare that they used to deport him, the ridiculous part is the flight was $625.00 but apparently they have a standard rate of $1200 and it doesnt matter what they actually paid for the flight and he was never given the option to buy his own, long story but very annoying ! fingers crossed we all win the lottery after this lol

There is definately a mexican community here, its gotten alot bigger over the last couple years, I have noticed a huge influx in mexican restaurants lately, I am not sure what that is about but a good percentage of them are actually run by mexicans and have more traditional food, there is also a couple places to buy mexican food products you might miss as well, such as cheeses and cream.

Its not a huge community but there is a presence for sure in Vancouver, its a nice transition from Mexico weather-wise since we dont really see snow except on the mountains, just lots of rain.

I am not sure about Vancouver island, I would assume not as its not nearly as multicultural as Vancouver is and consists of mostly small communities, it is so beautiful though !

Another silly question - If the sponsorship approval takes 75 days, is this included in the 13 month wait for approval or is this in addition to the 13 months ? I have a bad feeling its in addition ...
