How did it go?
All I can say is what a roller coaster of emotions!
Good news at the end of interview the approved the application for permanent resident.

But it wasn't the initial decision. This morning I went with my husband to interview. For an hour and
A half they questioned him while I waited in lobby. Then my husband comes out to get me and tells me
To remain calm because the lady is going to reject the application but we can appeal. With that I go In with my
Husband. She starts questioning me about what I would do with a rejected decision, how do I feel about the fact that I've been in a relationship with someone that had no status... I answered the questions truthfully...and then she stops ...looks at us and goes....I was going to decline your application but after having spoken to you I've decided to change my decision and approve your application for permanent resident. That was the best instant ever!!! We were so happy, relieved, in shock that she changed her mind.

Now we just have to wait for RCMP to send their approval. The documents were sent In January and are on their way still to Mexico I guess. They are going to look into it and see where they are at in the processing status. We just need to pay the fee for ARC (no application required) and then I guess passport and renew medicals that expire in may. We don't know how long it will all take but atleast the end is in sight!

Im enjoying the Mexican heat and tomorrow back to Toronto!
Thank you to all for the help...and the interview questions are extremely helpful! They asked everything!

Soooo so happy for you! I can't even imagine how stressful it was! I don't know the background story for you guys but definitely a roller coaster in one day.
I haven't even thought about the interview process but something we should be prepared for, for sure.

Thank you!!! It's been a journey. My husband had a rejected PRAA and then once he left we began spousal sponsorship. The interview was stressful but we had a feeling we had to face it because of his deportation. Even though he left when told it still gets labeled as deportation.

Here is our timeline for embassy processing the PGR request (in case when when PA is outside of Mexico). All this is coming from GCMS:

We sent fingerprints and photos to Mexico and they were delivered to the embassy on Dec 11 2016.
On Dec 16 embassy forwarded the docs to PGR.
PGR issued the certificate on Dec 29.

On Jan 26 certificate was added to the file in GCMS, (I suppose after being verified/translated) and on Jan 31 VO lead officer confirmed all certs in order.
So overall about 50 days.

We also requested an official letter to take to PGR - this would probably be a slightly faster option through a carta de poder, but the official request letter took 2 weeks to receive from embassy, by that time we gave up waiting for it and just sent the fingerprints to the embassy instead.
Oh I remember that PGR headache we went through beginning of January. We got sent to three different offices and not all in Mexico City. But eventually it got done! It's just a tiring process!

I can't believe they said they were going to refuse and then changed their minds.
But at least now it's over and you can return to Canada very happy!
Considering the interview and all that, that was not too bad of a time line from last of June to now.

I know caught us off guard, but so happy I had to pinch myself to believe it. Yes actually it's been going pretty quickly. I've been keeping track and every two months there was movement in the application, where we had to do a next step.

I told her I would appeal right away and move to Mexico for two years. Since i can take a leave for two years without losing my job. She said she had not doubts about our relationship. It was more about him and motives for returning. I told her. He had been working on his status in Canada with a lawyer. It's not that he stayed in Canada without trying to resolve correctly his situation. That was what made her pause and change her decision. I does help hearing it in person. If I hadn't been there I doubt she would have called me and asked questions.

We sent fingerprints to RCMP end of January. So still waiting. They also have yet to receive PGR which was sent end of January as well with payment. She was giving us a hard time saying we didn't submit the papers but I kept telling her the lawyer sent everything so she said she will check to see if the papers are on route. I guess between offices. Don't know. Either following up on it with lawyer. Yes for ARC she told that we just need to pay the fee. No application.

Guys... Just got an email from Mexico, looks like the official AOR2... and a request for Medicals? We submitted the medicals upfront with our application back in September. But they do expire in a couple of weeks. Is this a request for re-medical you think? It doesn't actually say that.. Help!

Did you do medicals 6 months before submitting application?
Yes, they evaluate medicals after AOR2, so pretty sure it's a request to redo if they're almost expired. In any case, you will need to have valid medicals at time of landing, so do it now.

Yes we did medicals way in advance, but life happened and we had to postpone submitting the application for a few months.

Other members have told me NOT to re-do medicals unless specifically asked. Because sometimes they are extended. And MyCIC already shows medicals as "Passed" ..

Getting very conflicting information...

You can email the embassy telling them that you have already submitted medicals. See what they answer in a couple of weeks.

Oh that's good there is some movement :)

I would guess, and it's only a guess because it's so close to expiring they are asking you to re do :(. Which is a pain for sure.
