it wont change to in process until you are right at the end or until you hand in your police checks, not to worry.

Mc1234 is right, it usually doesnt change untill right before PPR.
or in our case, everything was done police checks, redo medical ect. than it changed to in process and we got asked for the ARC for my husband. because the ARC is the final step before we get PPR. but if you dont need an ARC which most people dont lol., that chances are in wont change till right before you get PPR. :)

Hi everyone, I hope someone can answer here! Here is the scenario now....Our daughter and son in law will be coming home to Canada in December. Unfortunately, they only want to come for a short visit and return to Cancun,(rrgghhh after all of this) for maybe a year or so. Here is the thing though.....I am wondering if our daughter will be able to return to Mexico as she has overstayed her visit right now there. She left to go there in October of 2011 and has not returned. Will they deny her entry when she goes back. She only went down as a typical traveller getting off an airplane! Will anything be said to her in the airport leaving Cancun to come back to Canada? I don't know if I should start a topic about this or if any of you know any info! Thanks

Hey BCMom, if she did not have a FM2 or FM3 residency visa (only the 6 month FMM visa) then she will need to pay a fine upon leaving Mexico. I'm not sure what the fine is. I don't see her having a problem re-entering Mexico tho.. If I were her though, I would ask when she is heading back to Canada as I'm sure she will have to speak with the immigration office at the airport about paying her fine. This is from my understanding anyways:)

I don't blame your daughter, living in cancun is awesome! I can understand your frusteration though.. It's cozy is right though, she will have to pay a fine. To avoid it happening again tell your daughter right before her visa expires to take the Ado bus to Belize .. It's like 4 hours away and is 400 pesos. With this she can reenter and get a renewal visa, avoiding all the hassle. Good luck to her and your family!

I live in Cancun, and everything will be fine. I actually know a few people who have over stayed the travel visa, and they have been allowed back into mexico, some even without any questions.

On another note, can someone please tell me what ARC stands for :)

ARC stands for Authorization to Return to Canada, and it is generally only for people who have been deported/ordered to leave Canada. If your BF has never been to Canada and then deported/ordered to leave, you dont have anything to worry about :)

we didnt use a lawyer, but we used an immigration consultant, alot cheaper, and generally fairly helpful with questions and organizing everything properly.

Hi everyone! We are now safely back in Canada!

Immigration was easy and was pretty quick, took only about 15 minutes (but there were no line ups)

The first immigration guy (at the normal booths) was really nice he said his wife is from Mexico, ;D So he was really friendly with us! Then he sent us to another office for my hubby´s landing. They gave us some info about health care and all that and then there was a short interview with another immigration lady who was kind of rude...but that´s ok :p

My husband doesn´t really speak english that well and she was talking really fast and she wouldn´t let me translate for him! But she had a paper with all of the questions in Spanish so he just read off that. Then she got him to confirm the info and sign the COPR and that was all!

At the customs they didn´t even ask for or look at the B4 forms, just the customs card they get you to fill out on the plane.

Also in case anyone is interested she said if you need to travel before you get your PR card, you have to register with the Canadian government before you leave and they put a new visa in your passport (that looks just like the tourist one or the one they put in when you get the PPR), but instead of saying immigrant or visitor or whatever, it says permanent resident. So that´s what you would use to travel until you get the PR card.
