Hey all

Leisa P and I noticed that sometimes we go off topic on the thread, from talking about where to get Epazote to Settling in after immigration, for all of these topics to anything in between, we created a FB group which is closed so only those in the group can see our posts (for privacy reasons) anywho, if you are interested, heres the link: http://www.facebook.com/groups/442097089166742/

Congrats on the PPRs!

And Edgar, sorry about the ARC because it seems like a pain but you are getting so close now! You know for sure that PPR is next.

So what do I ask for? Google translate says it's called a "Letra Bancaria" is there any information that has to be given to the bank? This is what the site says:

Residents of Mexico only:

If you are paying in Mexican pesos, the bank draft or certified cheque should be made payable to: “Embajada de Canadá”. Please take note of the following:

Do not write on the back of the bank draft or certified cheque.
If you are paying with a certified cheque, it must have 2 signatures and the 2 code numbers of the bank officers, except for Banamex. In this case, only 1 signature and 1 code number of the bank officer is accepted.
If you are paying with a bank draft, it must have 2 signatures and the 2 code numbers of the bank officer, except for Banamex and Bancomer. In those cases, only 1 signature and 1 code number of the bank officer is accepted.
Cheques must have been recently issued.
Pay the exact fee for your application (do not add cents).
Your payment must accompany your application.
Please ensure that the bank does not forward your bank draft or certified cheque to this office.
If your application is received at this office without the correct processing fee attached, it will be returned to you.

I'm so lost.

They gave me 60 days, but I'm submitting everything on Monday.

That's the thing. The whole refugee thing is so ambiguous. We never were ordered to leave. The Order and Decision only states your options, we went for humanitarian and compassionate grounds, and when it was denied, we left voluntarily. We never applied for the PRRA. The thing is that they never start telling you when the 30 days for you to leave start.

Sorry about the added pain of an ARC, man.

A bank draft should just be a 'cheque de caja.' Any bank should be able to produce it, though they do seem to prefer the bigger ones. Hope that helps.

Does anyone know what form i used to request my husbands refugee file on his behalf ?

im a little confused on which form i need to print off and get him to fill out and sign, so i can get his file

also i want to request gcms, do i use the same form or a different one ?

thanksss

Oh my gosh edgar!! I´m sorry they are making you go through another step! But at least you know now that this has to be the very last possible thing that they can ask for! I really admire your ability to keep it together during all this!

By the way, good idea about the group! I think you guys already added me there. :)

Yeah no kidding!, because for what i have seen it takes about 2 months to process.
:( so she will come down to mexico for christmas?
how often does your wife come down here to visit you

I don't know if she will. I hate to put her in that spot. Normally she spends one Christmas here and one in Canada. Whenever she comes (every 5 - 6 months) she stays for a month or so. The longest she has stayed has been 3 months.

Awe yeah thats a tough spot! at least she can do both christmases, instead of having to miss one for the other.
oh okay! thats good! at least she is able to come see you fairly often, although im sure its not nearly enough!

Thank you all for the support. I know this is the last step, and after waiting for so many years this will be a piece of cake. I'm just gonna use this weekend to write that letter so I can do everything first thing Monday morning. I already have the money, it's just a matter of getting everything in order.

they dont give you a word limit or anything for the letter right? so just write everything you can think and everything that comes to your mind over the weekend! give them no reason to say no now!.

they wont though, i dont know of a single arc through spousal that has ever got denied :D im pretty sure being married to a canadian is a pretty damn good reason to go back to canada! 8)

Check the second page in this thread.

But yes I agree that a denied ARC is extremely rare.

I may suck at math, but if I was ever blessed with something, it's my eloquence. I'm pretty damn good when it comes to expressing myself and English isn't the exception. I'll make sure I come up with the best letter ever and in a few months I'll be celebrating my COPR. :)

She did appeal, but she stopped posting and never told us what happen. I already went through an appeal. It took me 18 months! I don't wanna go through another one.

Thanks for the good wishes. I should have it ready by Sunday. :D
