You mean if they wanted an interview...right? If so, in all likelihood, yes. They are still free to ask for one whenever, though.

I was wondering this too! They send the request for security checks with the AOR. But the AOR has the information regarding an interview "if required". There have been so few people that have gone for an interview, to know if their security checks were requested BEFORE they got called for an interview. Anyone??

Off topic but, is it hard to import a car from Mexico?

Hi We had a US plated car in Mexico for MANY years and drove it all the way to Toronto where I am going through the import process now.

I do not think than a car purchased in Mexico for the mexican market can be imported to Canada

see transport canada website http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/roadsafety/safevehicles-importation-other-than-index-446.htm

VEHICLES PURCHASED OUTSIDE CANADA AND THE UNITED STATES

The Motor Vehicle Safety Act and Regulations require that all vehicles imported into Canada comply, at the time of importation, with the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards in effect on the date the vehicle was manufactured. Vehicles manufactured for sale in countries other than Canada and the United States do not comply with the requirements of the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act, CANNOT be altered to comply and CANNOT be imported into Canada. The only exceptions to this rule are vehicles fifteen (15) years old or older as determined by the month and year in which the vehicle was manufactured and buses manufactured before January 1, 1971.

see here if you have a car that was purchased for the US market https://www.riv.ca/Home.aspx

Good Luck !

That's awesome!! We're in the same boat, ours arrives tomorrow so hopefully they send our letters pretty fast... that's good that you have the SSP out of the way

Hi everyone,

Brand new to the forum here but I´ve been reading it for a couple of days now. There´s a lot to read and the more i do the more questions i seem to have.

My husband and I first files the application in january and on Aug 1st our status changed to decision made on the e-cas but the letter never arrived, he phone the call centre last week and they said the first part of the application had been approved :D, and the guy basically said once the first part is approved the second one is fairly easy and most likely to be approved since they just do some background checks. Is this true?

He said our papers were on their way to the mexican embassy, but I haven´t received any notice from them yet, what can I expect or what´s the most common procedure from this point?

Thanks for all your help and insight, I´ve been a nervous wreck, I just can´t wait for this to be over!

It was received in Missisuaga Jan 31st 2012, husband then had to send more information regarding his previous jobs around the end of may/ june and it said a decision had been made August 1st.

He called on August 14th and they told him the papers were most likely to arrive to Mexico city this week

Hi Eduram, welcome!! Who's status changed to decision made for the applicant or the sponsor? The 1st stage involves the sponsor being approved, then your application is transferred to Mexico and they send out a request for police certificates or medical or anything else that might be missing.

oo okay! understood, so step 1 took longer because he needed to send in more information, wow thats a long time though.

anyways

Tsjunx is correct, now it is sent to mexico city and they check the relationship evidence to make sure its genunine, than they will send out requests for police checks and a redo medical if needed.
:D

Is the mexican spouse.. im not sure if you are mexican or your husband, but is the one that is mexican in canada or in mexico?

If the file was transferred to Mexico on August 1st you might be hearing something in the next week or two, it looks like the Mexico office is taking between 3 weeks and more to send AOR (acknowledgement of receipt) and the request for the police certificates.
