Hi everyone - I have a quick question! (Edit: Nevermind I found it!) I am looking for that Mexican restaurant and store in Toronto as we are headed there today. I tried a search and browsing through the Mexico thread but I cannot find it. Can someone give me an address please? Thanks!

DH got his SIN yesterday! =)=)=)

Maybe try calling again tomorrow? It's possible if you speak to someone else.. you'll get a different answer :)

Yeah thats true! the lady on the phone was very rude to.
but either way they took off GDL from the list so the only place we
can go now is mexico city. so i guess were stuck playing whatever they tell us when we get there
hopefully the price will change by next week when we go to get the exam!! haha
:)

You never know.. haha

Has anyone received their PGR from a state office??? My husband is of the understanding that some parts can be done by the local state office, but a trip to Mexico City is still necessary :(

Yayy! He's officially employable :)

It's funny how the first thing you do is look for a Mexican store lol. I've already found a place in Calgary that makes tortillas.. I'm hoping they will take mail orders.. lol Tortillas seem to be the staple food.. so if we have that.. we should be good :)

When i leave mexico in sept. and reenter 2 weeks later will I need to prove anything..
such as:

-return flight?
-or proof of funds?

when i first entereed mexico in march They didnt ask me for a return ticket or proof of funds or anything. but I was also travelling with my mexican spouse.

this time i will be entering alone. do you think they will ask me for anything??

thanks :)

I remember reading a few folks reporting they did it entirely at one of the satellite PGR offices - it may be worth searching the thread to see who got the PGR this year and asking for details if he's getting trouble (since the satellite PGR offices have been opening in the past year so folks no longer have to go to Mexico City to get them).

Also, just a thought - could he be thinking the trip to Mexico City is necessary for the SSP (if he doesn't have direct family members there that can process it for him)? Those are AFAIK only processed in Mexico City.

No, it will be the same. I've been to Mexico 4 times in a little over a year and they have never asked me a single question. We can basically come and go as we please.. just not past the 6 months, which you've shown you wont do.

Funny, I just sent a message to canadiangirl78 about a tortilla place at Bloor and Dufferin in Toronto.

BTW, mail order isn't necessary if you ever swing by the store. You can freeze them. The key is to spread them on plates or napkins across a table and then collecting them back up a couple minutes later so they don't stick together with the condensate. Once they are cool, put small batches in a zip lock bag and freeze them. To thaw them, put them in the fridge the day before you are going to use them and then reheat on the stove as if they were fresh but cool. Tell your husband to bring a comal with him.

I haven't noticed anyone on this thread getting thier PGR at a state office. It was just recently I found out that it was even an option. I copied the info that Chulada posted from her AOR letter, and I guess on that link it still says you have to go to Mexico City. Which I think is just the link to the PGR website. So maybe the website isn't updated. I can't read Spanish :)

O okay thats good to hear!
yes I will leave a week or 3 before the 6 months is up.
Im glad! because its kind of expensive to buy the ticket plus return ticket at once.

thanks for the answer! now i feel a bit of relief for when i come back :)

They changed their website a few months ago - but sadly seem to have made it prettier than less accurate than before. However, you can call the phone numbers at the bottom and they are super helpful - http://www.pgr.gob.mx/Servicios/Constancia/antecedentes%20registrales.asp

Let me look at my prior posts - I remember posting the list of state locations that were opening up (from a newspaper) when someone mentioned it and then someone actually got it - quickly - at a state office saving themselves the trip to Mexico City (in the pre-SSP-requirement days). Just can't remember who it was right now.

Found it - see http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/mexico-police-certificates-experiences-t104632.0.html

I listed the locations on the first page, Nessa's experience is on the second, and IIRC itscoezy may have also done it and reported back in this thread. But, since Nessa's active hopefully you can get first-hand info from her soon too.

Has anyone had to renew there passport in mexico?
my husband needs to renew his passport. he has an appt in puebla on friday morning.

but we are not sure where to pay?
do we take cash to the passport office and pay there?
or is there a certain place we need to pay for it ??

Btw.. every time I try and give you a +1 I get this message "Sorry, you can't repeat a karma action without waiting 168 hours." It's not important but I find it amusing.
