Is the Canadian immigration or the American?
It was the Mexican visa officer handling my case. In my notes it stated that the officer handling my case is no longer employed and that the new officer reviewed my full file and that I sufficiently proved a genuine marriage

My take on the article is that they are talking about the immigration system for people immigrating to Mexico. The corruption was in the Mexican Immigration system. I did not read anything about VFS Global nor the Canadian Visa Application Centers.

That being said, maybe there is corruption at the VAC, but this article was not in reference to them. It should not apply to our situations.

My wife tell me about Mexicans and how they act. She sometimes can't believe we give them the right to enter Canada without Visa even if on their side they split in our face with corruption like that as honest ppl from a lot of countries have to pass into the sytem as almost "criminal" , been eyed at for months and sometimes refused at the end.

When she knew her file was to pass by Mexico she got mad and scared of this corruption cause this country is putting a LOT of trouble for other latin american countries.

I can understand that people are upset about their Sponsorship applications not being handled in a humane way, and that we are frustrated that we are apart from our family members.I am heartbroken I cannot be with my husband. I understand the hurt.

But there is no need for these types of xenophobic remarks. First of all the article is not citing Canadian immigration. It is talking about Mexican immigration, immigration officers that are working on files for people that enter Mexico from other countries in Latin America and want access to the American border.

Second of all, our anger should be towards the Canadian immigration system they are the ones that have set up this horrible system that we are a part of, the Embassy's and Visa offices only play a part, but the legislations and rules that keep us apart from our families are put in place by the Canadian government.

Yes other countries are known to take bribes and such but these types of stereotypes you mentioned hurt all of us, and are simply not needed.

I've just said what she said to me as when you are in those countries YES you face discrimination everwhere around so i understand her on that point. She never pointed out Immigration Canada , she said she don't get WHY this nation gets soooo many privileges and yet split in our face and we know it, is all.

I've seen it when we visited Guatemala , her brother had issue to enter the bar we were at cause of his nationality and those are just neighbor's country. Fortutenaly i've given my wife one of my Blue Jays Cap and she's been served suppppper well during the night out at the bar... Yess canadian in here !!! Service been A1.

But seeing her brother feeling rejected like that as made me think further in. I had to use my influence to the doorman and explain he was with us ... If situations like that can happen , i can't imagine how can be dealt some at the borders when ppl are such vulnerable.

This may be a stupid question....but when they request your passport and then give you COPR what exactly is done? Do they stamp your passport? Do they send you a document? What is it exactly?

According to me they stamp your passport and on the return envelop it's given a letter of COPR. Which you present to CBSA at arrival and they sign it or something and ask for the PR CARD to be spent at the said address.
