Based on what I read.. I think your husband for that specific liberada could be a candiate since he was actually *in* the military where as most of us on here, our spouses never actually served and only have the precartilla..so this could be really benificial for you two.

Wow ! Now that I get all of this, this is a serious issue for all of us here, curious to see if CIC comes up with a solution for this, this basically puts all mexican applicants two years behind I would assume, like this process isnt frusturating enough ! Will be staying tuned in for updates on this, thank you to MC12324 for the update on this !

de nada.. hopefully someone will get intouch with CIC soon and they will let us know what to do :/ I know personally I will be calling everyone until I get an answer!

Hi Everyone,

Quick question. If my husband is granted the TRV we need to decide if we are going to use it or wait for the PR. He is in the US, undocumented, and if he is denied at the border he could get himself stuck in Mexico since the US won't let him in.

If he flies and is denied, he will definitely get stuck in Mexico. But if he drives to the border and is denied, is he still on US ground or does he have to then go back through the US border?

Thanks.

Yes, MC1234, this is quite a sticky situation! I can't imagine that they would not make concessions for this sort of situation that affects so many. I'm so happy that we have this forum for support.

I am too, its a great resource and its nice to have people who can all relate and support eachother through the process :)

I dont think so.. Wouldnt he have to through american customs again..? Would it be better to just fly direct, mexico to canada if he does get a TRV?

Yes but if they don't let him in Canada, he will be stuck in Mexico till he gets the PR. He hasn't been to Mexico since he was 10!

That would be aweful - I guess you will have to weigh the pros and cons if you get the TRV and make some tough decisions. :(

@ gricelanora please update us with your situation, it will be beneficial to so many of us on here.

Also, did your husband get an official request from the Canadian embassy for the PGR or did you two try and go and get this on your own? It may change things.

Yes, please do update us when you have some more information. We are all working with you to see if we can find some work around or solution.
We will let you know if we find anything.

yes my husband did get an official request.... let me tell you alittle bit about it. my husband got it last year around october, but because my hubby had been in the states we needed an fbi clearance so we had to wait until we got that... as soon as we got that, he went to PGR, where he was told that nothing could be process with out a pre cartilla. so from mexico city my hobby had to go back to chiapas to get the precartilla not knowing that the offices were close until january...anyhow to make my story short when we went back to the PGR they come up with this... and according to how he was told they just decide to start with this new procedure in january.... we had to do so many rounds and when i just thought that everthing was great this comes up....

Thats quite a lot of work you two have already put in :( :/ what was the official explanation of the rule change? Its weird though because another member emailed them very recently and nothing changed with the requirements along with their website which was updated FEB 28TH 2012 :S

@ grice.. how long did they give you to get the federal police check in.. We all understand why you are so upset, this is just awful :(

well.... i was there for that month in january... when he went in because they dont let anyone else in... so my husband went by himself.... he was in there for along time.... we thought that everything was going great... but when he came out he had this very sad face... he told that he beg them to take it that he didn't understand when just a few days before they had said that a precartilla was the only thing they need it.... the only excuse they gave him was that to many guatemaltecos were i guess buying it anyhow they said that the only way they could have some control over it is to request the cartilla..... my brother in law was there and when he saw me crying he went in with the print out that has the requirements from PGR.... and matter what he said they said nooo
