Hi
My wife and son are here in Canada on visitor record and study permit respectively. They both did their medicals in July 2021 before coming to Canada. Now they both are non-accompanying on my PR application. They satisfy all the requirements of the medical exemption under temporary public policy which is in effect till October 2024. Can I use their old medical as per the temporary public policy although they are non-accompanying?
Thank you in advance

Let me get this clear, your wife and son are on temporary permits in Canada but they are listed as non-accompanying on the PR application. Do you know what that means? That means they will not get PR with you, essentially they are not apart of the PR application (outside of medical and security checks). Plus, you would now have to prove that you can support yourself in Canada and your family when they go back home. IS THIS WHAT YOU ARE DOING?

Yes, you are right.
I can understand about the PR application which they are not part of. But why would I need to prove that I can support myself when they go back home. I have a full time job here

You are married and you have obligations outside of Canada to support your wife and children. That's not rocket science, 1 household is easier to support than 2. How much support that is, I can't say. The medical exemption, as I remember it, is only for those who have done the medical in Canada. If their medical were done in Canada, go ahead and submit the old ones. If their medicals were done overseas for the initial visa application, then I am not sure about the process for that. International medicals are still only valid for 1yr.
