Hi
I came to Canada in Jan 2016 through an intra-company transfer work visa. Work permit/Visa was till Oct 9, 2016. I left the sponsoring company in June and stayed on since my Visa was valid till Oct. I received a job offer from another company and submitted LMIA just before the visa expiry date. Additionally, to stay in status, I applied for extension of my visa (as a visitor) for less than 6 months stating the reason that my LMIA was being processed and I do not want to return to my country during the process. Today I received a request for Medicals (IMM1017) with non-EDE as IMM type.
When I was applying for Intracompany transfer work visa, my medical examination was exempted since I had stayed in USA for the previous 6 months. I am interested to know whether the same is applicable in this situation as well since I was in Canada since Jan (so more than 6 months). As I understand, the LMIA indicates that I intend to immigrate as part of process. Is this the reason for medicals request. Usually for visitor extension for less than 6 months, medicals are not requested.
I am concerned about the medical since I have Diabetes type-2. I have been unemployed since June, and I have had no medical insurance so do not know how much my biometrics are in control. :'(
Thanks.
