Medical Request for New Born and 6 year Old

I am on a student visa in Canada. My Two kids are already in Canada on TRV I applied for a student visa for the 6-year-old and extension for the newborn. Today CIC requested for a medical... Can someone please tell me what type of test is done during the process...Thanks

Your 6 year old only needs a TRV to study. Were you kids only told they could enter for a short time since it seems like they entered only a few months ago maximum. Seems strange you need a TRV extension and a medical for a newborn?

They actually came to visit so initially given only 6 months and now they will stay... they were not listed as accompanying me on Application.
